well you got networking working so transfering files should be pretty easy.

Heres what you have to do ...

1) Share a folder/drive in windows xp, give write access to your user name

2) In OS X look at the top bar ..you see a "go"  menu ..click on it ..

3) Click to "connect to server" .. a new window will pop up .. type smb://<your windows computer name>

4) You will see a user name/password window now .. type those up and click Connect

5) Now it will ask you which shared folder you want to connect to .. choose the with write access and click connect

6) A icon will show up on your desktop with that shared folder name

7) start copying stuff

could you clarify on how to give write access and also what exactly goes after smb://

---edit---

nevermind I got file sharing to work, thanks!

I know this is a little late in the post to be asking this, but i just started working on this. I'm trying to rip my Jaguar install cd's with windows. Every imaging program I've tried (including NERO) has given me the response that there is no disk in the drive. Yes, I did put it in and I did point the prog. to the right drive. Anyone have somthing similar to this, or know what my problem is?

*Current Project*

A friend of mine is currenly working on way to install Mac OS X, without any 3rd party software or even linux or Windows running. Rather to have it as a stand alone OS, just as you would with any other OS. He's run into many little snags here & there, but I'm hoping he makes it.

Does anyone know of anyone also working on such a project?

The idea is to have a bootable cd, that will install, just as if you where running an apple.

you can not .. I repeat .. you can not install OS X on a PC without emulating.

you can not .. I repeat .. you can not install OS X on a PC without emulating.

Why do you say that?

If anything has tought me, is never think someone is impossible.

I think he'll get it some day. The farthest he's gone is to have the

cd boot & start the install, but some where along the line the whole

computer crashes & nothing less then a format, will even fix it so

he can boot again.

I know he's been editing a lot of files & then remaking the cd.

Don't know how far he's really gone, but I've seen him try to install it.

So, he's TOTALLY rewriting OSX for x86?

Isn't that a waste of time?

Or has he just stuck Darwin on a CD?

looks like we got a 2nd Dennis Ritchie/Ken Thompson/Steve Wozniak here !! rewriting whole OS X for x86 platform !!

Pilsbury .. its total waste of time to reply to this guy's posts ..

@Phoenix2004... can I get my 2 mins back ?.. the mins I wasted reading your post

Sure, if you can refund mine as well.

I don't think he's rewriting the whole OS & that would be a waste of time. I'm not totally sure on what he's doing or how. I've seen him edit stuff & then see if it works. I'm not sure as to how though.

That's the error I'm getting.

run disk utility on it again. Erase the disk, then run "verify disk" ..that should fix it. BTW .. why do you have a 20 GB image ?!?

that could be a problem too. I don't think PearPC works on that large volume. Try making a small image .. like 3 to 6 gb in size.

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
