OS Won't Load on one computer but will on another

i'm building a new pc

when i was done with it

i put my hard drive with xp installed on it into my new computer

as far as it will go is to bios

it won't even boot in safe mode

but when i put it in my old cpu it boots up properly

also...i'm thinking this is related to it

after being on for awhile on just a black screen (cuz the os won't load)

i hear a loud noise coming from inside the case

it's an AMD processor, and it's snapped in correctly

never had this problem buiding any cpus in the past

anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Windows may not always boot when thrown into a different MB archetecture, because it didn't load the drivers you need on the original PC.

Windows install is CPU/MB dependant.

U can't use an already install Windows and just change the MB and CPU and expect it to still work.

You'll need to do a Repair install, which keep your settings and installs, do fix it.

if you're gonna do it like that. you have to put the HDD into the new machine at the first boot (after everything's copied from the cd and it boots off the HDD) or elses there'll be problems booting etc in the new machine.

the only time this isn't the case is on identical machines
