I wouldn't say it's not possible. You may need to convert to a different format such as mp3, as most freeware utils work with that, rather than wma.

Take a look at this site, plenty of shareware and some freeware utilities which may help. I've never had the need to clean up an audio track so I can't make a recommendation, but the Editors section seems to be the place to look, (although you might want to look in the others too)
