If its locked into the Cingular network, it won't work on AT&T unless you unlock it. Weither it can be unlocked or not depends on the type of phone. I don't know much about Motorola phones (yes I'm a nokia fanboy, so kill me) so I can't help you with that.

Now you say "theres somthing about the "sim card" " Do you mean the phone has a sim card and a port? If it does then using it with AT&T will be simple. You will need to go into an AT&T Wireless store and buy a sim card however, they're about $25. (again, assuming it isn't locked) The ONLY prepaid plan you will be able to use this phone if its GSM on AT&T is the gophone plans ( http://www.attwireless.com/gophone ). Again, If this phone is a GSM phone. The "free2go" prepaid plans do not use GSM and that phone won't work with it.

And before someone tries to tell you Cingular bought AT&T Wireless, yes that is true. However at this point in time they are still 2 seperate competing companies.
