Samba showing as NT

Hey All,

I'm finishing our Windows NT 4.0 migration to Windows 2000. At the minute I have 1 NT4 Server left and 1 RedHat.

In active directory users and computers the RedHat Samba thing (that somebody else installed [V6.somefin]) shows up as an NT4...

Anybody know how to change this to like a Server 2003 :rofl: ??

I'm not exactly sure, but http://samba.org has a very good documentation section.

You might want/need to make sure you are at (or upgrade to) samba 3, since your RedHat install may be a little old. (RedHat version 6???)

well the redhat is version 6.1(cartman-whatever that is ...) but i don't know what version samba is, only thing i do know is that nobody's ever touched it since it's been installed...

why upgrade to samba 3 ?

If you still want to keep RedHat 6, I would at least make sure that you are up to date on patches. Don't want you to have security problems.

I'm running Samba 3.0.4 and it still shows up as Windows NT 4.9 Server, not such a big deal to me. Just thought I would let you know it

still does it in the 3.0.x versions.
