Airlock is one of the most original WB visual styles I've seen in awhile.

It was created by MikeB for the GUI Olympics (http://www.guiolympics.com).

Here's what I like about it:

(1) It's very clean. It has a really good quality to it. Everything goes together with it.

(2) It's very unique. Title bar is on the bottom in a REVERSE-BeOS style.

I'm not sure I'd use it long term since I don't think I could get used to having title bar buttons on the bottom. But it is pretty damn creative which was the event it was entered into.

I used airlock for quite a while. I fell in love with it instantly! Although, I couldnt use it for too long because of the widgets. This is probably a skin that'll be better suited for a game machine, or a logon that doesnt get used too often. That being said, MikeB updated Airlock with a substyle that puts the widgets on top too, like normal. Give that a try. It loses some of it's flair, but, it's still slick as hell. MikeB completely deserved the gold for most creative visual style. And with WB's colouring feature, in doesnt have to be that blue (nothing wrong with it) you can make it olive, slate, ergonomic, whatever. I [heart] WB.

  • 4 weeks later...

i think the normal version with the buttons on the top would have been better if it looked like the the toonXP style... not in the end of the title bar but just after the title... this way the wb wont lose its original style... if someone can said this to mike i think it would be a great addition..
