Anyone else use the Microsoft Office Toolbar?

Question

I guess from back in Office 95 I have been using the Office Toolbar. I have it dragged to the right-side of my screen so it shows as a single vertical strip, kind of like how the Task Bar is a single horizontal strip. I now use Office 2000 and still like to use it instead of other docks, the Quick Launch area or too many icons on my desktop. I like it because it doesn't take up hardly any room and if I have it set like the task bar to be shown all the time and not hide, it frames in the desktop windows nicely so that I can always see the icons and click on them when running normal windows programs.

I see a lot of people on here use docks so I was curious if anyone else still uses their Microsoft Office Toolbar instead. Anyone? Thanks.

Why don't you try something like that?

Make a folder, drop shortcuts of subfolders of shortcuts in it. Right click taskbar, toolbars, new toolbar, point to that folder. Remember, whatever you name the folder is what will be displayed on the taskbar.

I do the same, it's very easy and clean :)

The office toolbar isn't even included in office 2003, you can only use it if you still have an older verison of office installed.

I havn't used the toolbar scince I had windows 3.1 and it looked neat at the time.

They took it out??? It's bad enough that they don't let it run on older os like 95, 98, me, but to take out a useful feature like that? 2003 sounds like a step backwards. Hrm.

LOL, it's included. He's just a dumbass. It's not installed by default anymore, so you have to go into add/remove programs and select "modify" for the Office install, and then put in your CD and install the toolbar. I can see why it's not default anymore though, I couldn't stand the toolbar.

Ok, to end the confusion once and for all, it exists in all verisons of Office before Office 2003. It does not exist in Office 2003. Microsoft has said that they removed it because they said that kind of utility shouldn't be found in an Office product, but rather should be delegated to the OS itself.

For those who miss it, you can always reinstall it from an older installation disc (from Office 2000 or XP, for example). You can choose to install just the toolbar in Custom installation. Office 2003 will not have any such option to install the toolbar.
