Command and Conquer: Generals

Recommended Posts

no it doesnt, westwood need to get there act together and finish there current projects like Red Alert3 and Command And Conquer tiberian Twilight.

If they wanted to get into the 3d rts genre they should have made it a whole new series rather then milking the command and conquer brand for all its worth, people will see it see command and conquer get in and play it and bebamboolzed why theres no GDI, NOD, Allies. Soviets.

Actually ill concede it does look cool the game but I just dont feel comfortable with the idea behind it I feel they should be working on what made them good the next C&C redalert, or maybe even another dune. You dont see Blizzard running off workin gon 10 other projects milking say the warcraft name on some other similar game, no they put there heads together and work on a game till there ready to release it, besides being irrated when they delay the release of their games, probably for the best, I dont recall ever having a problem with a blizzard game.

Ah eitherway Im not expecting to see Generals this year, but in the end ill probably still buy it or hire it etc.

Sorry to say, but the game suck. Man, it stutters like crap, bearly playable for me. The sound stutters, the gameplay stutters, everything stutters... even the damn menu stutters. WTF is Westwood thinking by releasing this game?!

I finally gave up and saved myself a gig of free space. (uninstall)

First of all, Osiris: The same thing could have been said about milking the Command & Conquer franchise when Red Alert was released. Where were GDI and NOD? But you know what? The game turned out better than the original. So know they bring us C&C Generals. No GDI, NOD, Allied or Soviets, but will someone be complaining about some future release that doesn't inlcude GDI, NOD, Allied, Soviets, Chinese, Americans and GLF? The fact that they put Command & Conquer on the box just lets me know that it will be another kick-ass RTS game from Westwood, regardless of the story involved.

As far as Blizzard, Warcraft and Starcraft sound pretty similar to me... And to Westwood's credit, they didn't anounce Generals three years ago and change the whole project twice since the original announcement (*cough* Warcraft III *cough*) and still not release anything but vaporware.

nomis_nehc: What the heck are you talking about? Installing and playing Generals? Let me know what stores you shop in!

Ironman273: Red alert wasnt better then the original. My point was simply why cant westwood be a little more like blizzard and get one project over at a time, instead of running 10 different ways with the same bloody brand name thus C&C.

I personally am sick of seeing spin offs, red Alert only intrested me because Kane was in it if you recall. I just want westwood to put the technology it appears generals has and get there ass moving and finish the C&C Saga. then they can run off all the little spin offs they want. At this rate no one will even remember the storyline for GDI and Nod, be burried under, soviet vs allies sotryline and battles, and china vs america storylines.

I cannot wait, either :)

I currently run www.CnCGenerals.com with Maniac (of red2.org) and netsprinter (I have worked with him in the CnC community for a long time), but it is not my site. I just want to make it clear that I do have a webmaster position along with Maniac (who owns the site) and ns, so it is not mine.

Personally, as long as this game does not have silly crap like RA2 it will be the best RTS in a loooooooong time!

They did....

no I was referring to making a realistic 3d rts. I meant rather then a fantasy RTS aas Dune was, well Sci Fi anyway.

As real as possible seems to be what there going for, but I jusat donmt think they should be using the C&C sorry C$C brand to cash the game in.

And I also think Westwood should get there ass into gear and finisht he actual Command and COnquer series off, thats all.

They can do whatever they wan't, its their license. I think you should not talk till you have played the game, either. They are not milking it, either. Total Annihilation 2 (http://voodooextreme.com/comments.taf?postID=27055), now that's milking it.

    • Wouldn’t it be better to disable global c states to improve latency at the cost of marginally higher heat and power usage?
    • I recently bought a brand new Intel 200 series laptop with 16GB, 512GB NVME (now 2TB) with 14 inch OLED screen for $450. Not the fastest laptop in the world, but the screen is great and laptop is small, just what I needed.
    • They forgot to include this slide: "If I get a Mac I won't be able to play games, therefore I will have more time for my studies."
    • It’s not desperation, it’s marketing. Companies do that…
    • Some AMD Ryzen users can get free Windows performance boost with this simple system tweak by Sayan Sen AMD understands that there is a lot of demand for its X3D processors and for good reason too, since they offer some of the best gaming experiences. As such, the company plans to launch a new 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X3D for those who may not want to spend top dollar on a 9800X3D. What makes X3D special is the densely packed last level cache (LLC) wherein the L3 (level 3) cache is 3D die-stacked such that there is a whole lot of it that the cores can access on demand all within the smallest footprint. This is said to help with latency especially, and games happen to be quite sensitive to it since they are a mixed workload and so there is a lot of to-and-fro. However, despite that fact, users have noticed micro-stuttering and freezes on Ryzen X3D CPUs. Although there is no official fix, some of the affected users have managed to resolve the issues by tweaking a motherboard setting. The tweak is related to a setting called "GLOBAL C-STATE CONTROL" (it may be called something else by your motherboard vendor) and changing it to 'Enabled' from 'Auto' could fix stuttering and lag-related issues in games. If you are not familiar with them, Processor Power Management is done through Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) P-states or C-states. While P-states or performance states handle CPU voltage-frequency scaling, C-states deal with CPU sleep states so that some of the CPU functions, which are not necessary at that moment, are disabled. The P-states and C-states work together to make the processor run more efficiently. It helps the OS and apps determine which cores can be parked. The Global C-state control setting helps users manage not only the DF and CPU core C-states but also the I/O C-states too. For those wondering, DF here refers to Data Fabric or AMD's high bandwidth Infinity Fabric interconnect between CPUs, GPUs, and more, on AMD systems. By default, this is set to "Auto" which also means that it is "Enabled" by default. However, in the case of X3D parts, Auto may set this setting to "Disabled" and thus manually toggling it to "Enabled" may be necessary. X3D processors, the dual CCD (core complex die) ones especially, have their V-cache on a single CCD. If the CPPC (Collaborative Processor Performance Control), which lets an OS like Windows control the "preferred core" and clock speed boost, isn't working optimally to assign the correct gaming CCD, then this fix could well work. Global C-State Auto: Global C-State Enabled: We ran a benchmark on our Ryzen 9 9950X3D to see if toggling the settings would make a difference, and well, it didn't in the case of AIDA64. However, since this is a synthetic test that measures cache and memory exclusively, we can't definitively conclude that the fix will also not make a difference in the case of games. Another remedy for stuttering is to disable the monitoring of the "Power percent" metric on MSI Afterburner if you have it on. This has been a long-known issue and in fact can help you even if you are not using an X3D CPU. Source: Reddit (link1, link2) via YouTube
