Finally got round to giving foobar2000 a try. :)

Given a few more days it may replace Winamp as my default player.

It was a beast to customise, but I'm pretty pleased with what I've ended up with; and it does things I've always wanted to be able to do that Winamp couldn't. Now if only someone could make it cook my dinner.

It would be helpful if there were some more customisable Samurize things for it. Anyone got any recomendations? The built in one continually tells me that I am playing a track named 'uninteresting', and AMPI doesn't seem to work...

edit: :) no need... Found it

This is the most complex(more like complicated) program I have ever used.. Wow it took 7 hours to get it to work and I still only have this

I don't exactly know how to make everything myself, but I have figured out how to use some of the tagz and edit other people's code.. Just wondering.. how long did it take you guys to config this thing ;) ?

:Edit: - Another couple half-hour later...

So my current foobar changed a bit

But I'm trying to get this to work, I see that some of you guys have a huge spectrum analyzer (like the one in on the top part instead of on the side panel, but when I put it on it won't get bigger than this? Does anyone know how to change this? Because when I do change it, it turns into what it looks like in Screenshot 3

I think once I get that then finally I'll be able to make a new/find a better info and then change the colours a bit so they match :D

Would anyone, that use almost all plugins, be kind enough to upload their foobar2000 folder or something like that?

It should be around 2Mb in size (maximum). ;)

I'm totally new in scripting stuff so you imagine how much I'm lost?!?! Some might say that I just need to learn but fact is, I'm not really interested into that kind of stuff but I am sure in need for the best audio player on my computer!

Please be kind & thanks in advance!

Just in case anyone is interested, I found this very useful for sorting out results from the album list plugin:

Preferences > Core

In the "Sort incoming files" box paste this

$if2(%album artist%,[%artist%])|%date%|$if2(%album%,[%venue%])|[%disc%]|%_lowerext%|$num(%tracknumber%,3)|%_path_raw%

Now when viewing files using search or album list, they will be sorted logically instead of by path!

now i have it like this, but the panels won't move to where i want them to..

right click on an area at the top of foobar, e.g. next to components. Then you can add your desired panels.

After that, disable your sidebar in preferences

Panels across the top will need to have a minimum height set too, or they'll just be all squashed up at the top. ;)

For some reason you can't resize the top bit vertically.

    • Claude on Windows is eating up massive amounts of RAM, with no way to stop it by Usama Jawad Anthropic has been in the headlines a lot lately, primarily due to its latest revenue and valuation figures, along with its release of its state-of-the-art (SOTA) Fable model. While its flagship product, Claude, may be very popular among millions of users, a lot of them are now reporting memory issues when using the tool. Over on Claude Code's GitHub repository, an issue raised in February has been gaining traction once again. Basically, Claude Desktop on Windows spins up a 1.8GB Hyper-V virtual machine if you use Claude Cowork or agent mode even once. This happens on each launch of Claude Code even if you plan to use the tool in chat mode only. Several users have upvoted this bug and stated that it's happening on their machine as well. However, it seemingly affects only Claude desktop users on Windows, not customers of the CLI or any other platform. Once the bug is triggered, it also shows a Vmmem process in Task Manager, indicating CPU usage of 0% and RAM utilization of a whopping ~1.8GB. Claude users complain that this process should only spin up when you explicitly launch agent mode or Cowork in Claude, with session files efficiently cleaned up after use. Additionally, they are calling for Claude to gracefully handle the absence of virtual machine-based infrastructure, without compromising on chat performance. It's unclear when this issue originated or what the root cause behind it is, but people are once again actively engaging in the GitHub thread as well as Hacker News. You can also find other technical details and log events over on GitHub. It's unclear if Anthropic will look into this issue, especially since it's already been reported for a few months. However, the bug is also causing major annoyance for users, with many claiming that it has led them to uninstall Claude Code on desktop, as a concrete workaround is not yet known.
