Xbox and DL media

any word if Xbox will support Dual Layer media?

i know there are 3 diffrent dvd-roms (Phillips, Samsung, and Thompson) any change any one of those would support Dual Layer DVD+R?

btw, does Thompson drive support DVD+R

I'm sure they support dual layer because RSC2 uses dual layer discs to hold all their data but I maybe wrong

They should cos some games are more than 4.7 gig.

Depends on how the disc is written. I think (i.e not completely sure) that Xbox discs need to be written outside to inside rather than PC discs which are written to from the inside out.

If it's just DVD's Films and Audio CD's then it's ok.

well i just got a dual layer burner

and got lucky enought to get hold of 5 DL disc

and well, i tried with 3 disc so far, and there is no possible way to back-up games larger then 4.7gb on dual layer disc

you can ftp to the disc, just fine, copy all the files from the disc, but xbox just won't read it

tried with thompson, and samsung drives

u can always replace ur xbox stock dvd drive and do some further modding

i think i know what the problem is

xbox iso use diffrent file system, what people call xiso.

and the problem is that nero (and other burnign software) that burn DL media, when the iso is larger then 4.35gb, they try to plit in to two parts.

and as nero doesn't understant xiso file format, it splits it in random place, and thats when then iso gets mest up.

there is one change this would work

if Craxtion or other xiso creation software, would add support for creating DL iso files.
