Contra would you have problems with it if you would make my own port of Plastik (from scratch)?

I have some ideas of my own I want to try out. If you do have problems with it, let me know.

plastik is GPL as is my port... you can do whatever you want with it. start from scratch, tear mine apart, take, borrow... doesn't matter. send me a message on AIM...maybe we could collaborate on some aspects

I first want to finish some software I'm making, but after that I will probably start making the port.... we'll see how that evolves.

I installed KDE 3.3 today especially for that purpose :) and thinking of porting Plastik with the KDE default colors (the yellowish scheme).

Ahh well, we'll see, time will tell if it will ever become something ;)

Thanks for the clarification (Y)

I am one of the few people that have positioned their start menu on the left or right side of the screen, in my case with a width of about 300 pixels (yes i actually like it there  ). Unfortunately, most themes look a little bad on this configuration, including Plastik. Since the background of the startmenu is a gradient image, it shows vertical bars when stretched, and the start button overlaps the buttons representing the opened windows. If possible i would really love to see these two bugs fixed. It's an amazing theme!

PS i would attach a screenshot but its really easy to reproduce. Just configure your startmenu on the left with a width of approx 300 pixels.

Does anyone wan't to get a list of bugs for this theme? Since contra said it was GPL, I might fix them, if I can.

I already fixed some bizare MS word bug...

Thank you for fixing bugs for this great theme.

A bizarre character in the search options of emule.

The address bar of firefox is not skinned. (generally dropdown menus are not)

And could you also make a flag version?

I don't have eMule normal, so I can't say I know where that would have comefrom, and if it was even the theme that caused that...

Nothing skins firefox dropbox's, only glpyhs and stuff. Its wierd like that.

And the other text thing...not sure...

Problems in eMule and Firefox are bugs because there is no problems with other theme.

And i'll try and look at that winrar bug. I aint perfect, and can't promise i'll fix everything though.

Show me another theme skinning firefox dropdown boxes...

The only way I can see on doing this now, is if I decided to put the graphic as a background in the glyph file.

Yeah, please continue working this. I agree with what other people have already said about the buttons being improved, besides that one thing I'd like to mention is the color of the Quicklaunch tabs. It should be darker than it is considering the color of the background.

Thanks, XanDaMan, for taking interest in fixing these bugs! :D It's about time! (If I knew how to fix them, I would have long ago.) Also, alternate Start buttons would be much appreciated.

Hey everyone, I helped contra out fixing a couple of bugs back before the first release, so I was stopping by to see how its doing. Looks like there are a number of bugs that still need fixed. I haven't worked on this theme since then, but I think in the next couple weeks i'll browse this topic for bugs and see if I can help again. If you re-post any especially annoying bugs here that I think I can fix i'll make them a priority.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
