i was looking for info on how to do this, and couldnt find it. so i figured i'd make a howto for it.

Thanks to jagedEdge for telling me how its done

in any theme with metal to remove the brushed effect you will need

a) Themepark

b) Photoshop

in themepark if you want to edit the currently set theme go to File > New Theme or open a premade theme by open.

then go to Elements > Global Elements > Metal Window > Metal Window Texture

drag out the image onto your desktop, then open the TIFF in photoshop, or some other editor.

delelete the brushed part but leave the black color, make sure its a transparent bg. save the tiff and then drag & drop into themepark save the theme and then apply with ShapeShifter

To remove the brushed effect in iTunes youll need Themepark & Photoshop again.

go to File > Open Special > iTunes.rsrc

then PICT > 1024 (i think. someone correct me if wrong)

drag image to desktop, open in photoshop or another editor, delete brushed effect, save image & drag back into themepark. save resource.

in finder go to iTunes and control click then Show Package Contents.

go to Contents/Resources

drag iTunes.rsrc to a safe place incase you want brushed back. drag your modifed iTunes.rsrc into the Resources folder and launch iTunes

Now your Metal is silky smooth. :)

My mods to your "How to"...

in any theme with metal to remove the brushed effect you will need

a) Themepark

b) Photoshop

c) GuiKitty (unsanity.org)

in themepark if you want to edit the currently set theme go to File > New Theme or open a premade theme by open.

then go to Elements > Global Elements > Metal Window > Metal Window Texture

drag out the image onto your desktop, then open the TIFF in photoshop, or some other editor.

delelete the brushed part but leave the black color, make sure its a transparent bg. save the tiff and then drag & drop into themepark save the theme and then apply with ShapeShifter

Open GuiKitty, drag the guikit into the GuiKitty widow. It decompiles the theme into its own editable folder. Open the extras.rsrc in Themepark. Highlight the desired element you want to edit. Hit the "Send" button and it will sent the image to Photoshop with transparency. Make you edits and hit the "Receive" button in Themepark. Voila! You can continue on this path to edit the finder.rsrc file as well. When you're done, drag the decompiled folder back into the GuiKitty window and it will recompile the edits into an alternate guikit.
