First, let me start by saying I cant believe this hasnt been published yet and second, I was unable to do a comparison of Gmail and AventureMail due to some rate problems at AventureMail. That will come later as AventureMail lets more accounts in.

Gmail - Googles new e-Mail Service

Google Inc. - Website

1GB of Diskspace

Googles new email service has 1GB of Diskspace, which beats EVERY one of the premium services offered by MSN Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and even AventureMails own service. Instead of deleting email, you can ARCHIVE it, so you never have to get rid of important messages again. Plus Gmail includes a Mail Space indicator.

Search through your email -- with Google Search Technology

You can search your mail messages for words that provide you with information you need. For Example, search "Dave at 10PM", if you wrote the line "Meet Dave at 10PM", it will come up.

Conversation Views

Instead of getting your messages listed as "RE: you", it is listed in one big threaded page like a forum, and you click each reply to expand it and view the replies. Far better than going through tons of replies to find something.

Instead of folders....Labels!

Instead of using Folders, you can store your messages under Labels which act like folders, except you can label an email to several different labels.

Filter your emails...

You can use a feature to "Filter" your email several different ways. Automatic Archiving, Starring, and/or Labeling is available. This means when you specify who the email is from and/or who the email is to, it goes directly into a folder for you.

Starring providing quick access

Starring allows you to provide quick access to an email thats "Important" or otherwise, Just click a star next to the message you want and you can now access that message from the "Starred" link.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Use Keyboard Shortcuts to view your account with ease!

POP3/SMTP Support

-POP3 Checking is only available through third parties (such as "Pop goes the Gmail")

-SMTP is not available

How to get an account

Accounts are not yet available to the General Public. Google is using "Invite-Only" to allow new registrations, it is expected to be released to the General Public soon.

Hmm, bit of a quick review...

As stated above, you forgot to mention filters, labels, speed, starring, etc.. You said you never have to delete, yet that's what you can do with Pop3 personal e-mails and your own server or OE. You also forgot the spam filters, which is very important. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, sorry for criticising...

That's also not true anymore. Yahoo offers 2gb as part of their premium service.

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.
