Sorting Music Files By Track Number

How can you sort files by track number in music folders in XP? The option is not availible in Arrange Icons By....

Put your folder into detail view and right-click on the column headings to customize them.

Put a tick in the box corresponding to track number and click OK. The track numbers will then appear to the right of the filenames.

Then just click on the column heading to sort them ascending or descending according to your preference.

^ that will only work if you have cleanly filled ID3 tags though. If you're like me and hate ID3 tags, you could use this method.

01. Artist - Trackname

02. Artist - Trackname

etc.

I don't use this, I just put each album in its own folder and have a playlist for each album. Works just fine for me.
