OK just a few finishing touches like taking out the server hammering and im done...

I present to you the first ALPHA (branded as 'BETA') of nw|assistant...

Still doesn't do all that much - several known issues such as it keeps bugging you every 5mins about your new PMs (will be fixed soon!)

Updates itself every 5mins (this is hardcoded cant be changed - to be fixed soon!)

ermm... other miscellaneous issues - this is just to check the app works and gets member details without crashing out with an error!

MAKE SURE:

- neowin login is set to "remember me"

- you have vb6 runtime installed

- you have msinet.ocx control installed and registered

Heh, well I'm not actually using it atm, since being a new member here (although I joined ages ago I forgot about this board for a while, lol!) I don't get much in the way of PMs (yet!). And I'm kinda busy installing / uninstalling programs to find silent install switches to write to bat files for unattended/automated setup of XP SP2 DVD, which doesn't leave me much time for beta testing anything (including real life, lol)...

This is a really cool idea, but it needs to be componetized so it can be a plugin for, say, Outlook. I already have AIM and Outlook running along with my browser, I just don't want more apps that need to be run all the time on my computer. Still, great idea.

EDIT: It tells me I don't have Neowin set to remember me (I do)
