think about it.

if the server can barely handle 7 million hits a day from the forums, how will it take 10million hits a day from the forums and this little app?

it has to open a socket and connect the neowin site, correct? wouldnt that affect the performance of the site?

much like ddosing a site by sending too many requests for it to handle.........

Sorry... That should have been 9th of August.... I'm now back in the UK...

Just a few things and changes I'd like to run through:

- nw|assistant is only intended as an open-source application demonstrating a way to interface with neowin, code will be used in other software, already programmers from AeroBrowser and Neowin Messenger have asked to use pieces of the code (although that was a month ago...)

- the software does not hammer the server, i have included various safety checks and suchlike to ensure this does not happen - ultimately, the code should only be executed once rather than a continuos, timed loop as shown in the opensource demo.

I've been building a similar thing for my new website, though I can't really see the use of a 'Neowin Assistant'.

I guess some sort of browser integration would be good.
