Open with firefox

I am using firefox as my default browser. Whenerver i try and open a url from the run dialog box it opens in IE and not firefox. Is there any way to make all pages open in firefox regardless of where they are run from.

MSN Messenger will not open links in firefox. nothing can be done about that. (i'd love for someone to prove me wrong)

i believe microsoft has hard coded that MSN Messenger only use iexplore for opening links. no way to change that unless we got the source code ;)

i can prove everybody here is wrong about MSN messenger being hard coded.

i open MSN messenger links on firefox.

the trick is simple and is described in a microsoft's document.

the path to firefox has to be in longfilenames format. you can not use C:\PROGRA~1\.... use the complete path instead C:\Program Files\...

maybe a little edit on the above posted regfile will do the trick, i just edited manually in Folder Options.

the value was:

"C:\Archivos de programa\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" %1

and now it is:

"C:\Archivos de programa\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" %1

(windows in spanish "Archivos de programa"->"Program Files" )

when it tries to open internet explorer to open hotmail from msn messenger it opens firefox,

but as i said before, it opens a new tab with my default home page

excelent, you're using the longfilenames format, that's why it is working =)

you should try this format in the regfile too.. C:\PROGRAM FILES\................\FIREFOX.EXE -url %1 i think it wont open the default homepage, that way.

firefox defaults to shortfilename format on installation.

Haha that's too simple. Everyone should edit the regfile with longfilenames. I'm unable to open links via run.
