Apart from just being an extremely attractive young lady, it seems Maria Sharapova is also an incredible tennis player. Many expected her not to produce the goods, and yet today she won Wimbledon.

Sharapova is the first Russian ever to win Wimbledon, as well as being one of the youngest females ever to hold the title of 'Wimbledon Chamption'.

Post your views - I thought she was truely excellent today, particularly bearing in mind the ability of her opponant.

yeh she seriously played a great match, great returns...actually never knew she could?ve hit the ball that hard. She was playing dominant on the field, let S.Williams run from left-to-right, Williams even slipt lol! hehe

It kinda felt like Serena let her win, if you think about it Venus won Wimbeldon twice, and Serena won it twice. I dont think Serena wanted to be classed as a better player than her sister so she didn't win it the third time. Serena has played her before in Florida and won quite easily.

Sharapova frustrated Williams to no end. To say that Williams wasn't focused, or appeared to let her win, as mentioned above, takes away from what Sharapova accomplished. She did what many felt was impossible. She took it to a Williams and won. And she took it to her with a power game.

I hope what we saw today is a trend in womens tennis. Not because Sharapova is attractive, but because the dominance exhibited by the Williams sisters over the past couple years had made the game stale and boring.

Anyhow Maria played an excellent match today, some of her volleys were just outstanding !

When she sunk to her knees at the end, it nearly brought a tear to my eye, all I could think was how proud most she be feeling now !

I liked it when she climbed through the crowd to hug her dad and then when she tried to phone her mum and her mobile phone wouldn't work and she said ' pah, technology ! ' :laugh:
