Yeah, I gave it a shot. Listened to all the tracks listed. Very repetitive, I felt the vocals bordered on unbearable as well. There wasn't a single part of the music that stood out from any of the other cookie cutter music available on the radio today. I'm sure in that aspect it'll see some play on Clearchannel stations. Mountaints I felt was especially bad, it seemed to drag on, and lyrics just seemed slapped together and uninspired by any emotion. It just feels like they took what so many other bands have done already, and managed to do it worse.

Very cool so far :D I can't wait to get the EP! :D

i downloaded the mp3's on the first...finally listening now....this just makes me want tAT back....im listening "Remnants" right now...yea, its remnant of when he was in tAT....heh, i kinda like it for some reason though, ive always been fascinated with this guys vocals...but i dont think they are "exotic" as they used to be

Also, i want to hear the new tAT music, it will be interesting to see the guitarist take all the duties now

Edit: Mountains just sucked, i couldnt finish it

Go On is pretty good, but definatly single material, sounds like everything else, again, his voice is more mainstreamed than it used to be..and i can tell they did some pitch fixing on his voice, i hear parts where he is still a bit flat

Edit 2: I want Andy to go back to tAT damnit...

cryptovocals -- thanks for that! :) Do you know the band? Do you know when their new EP is coming out, exactly, other than what it says on their site? If they're selling it at the show can you get a copy and I'll pay you for it? ;) Blah, wish I didn't live in Texas or I'd be going to your shows! One last thing: if you talk to Apex (well, I'm sure you will... O_o lol) tell them to get their site back in full again [messageboard and all] ;) lol... I'll check your band out now, too.

Also, for those who haven't heard it, here are some LOW-QUALITY, PRACTICE TAKES of the new songs with Art singing: http://www.apextheory.com/3songwebsitef.html

|CiN|FuL -- yeah, I really wish he didn't leave... but I'm interested in seeing both what VoKee and Apex do now. I think those songs aren't exactly amazing quality, either, but they're decent quality. The instrumentals may not remain the same, too. I like it, overall, but the instrumentals in Apex were better. Still love Andy's voice, though, I think they just didn't make it loud enough on the songs. Check out Ontronik if you think he's lost his voice, trust me...

http://ontronik.com/sounds/sounds.html <-- click on "Music", the first link that will show up. There are 4 songs there... It's his solo project.

EDIT: Just checked your site out, cryptovocals... Good stuff! http://www.cryptorchid.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=35

Even if it's not done, it sounded pretty good to me... you've got me sold :)

Hey no problem! Yeah, I know the band. My drummer was on the road with them and Alien Ant Farm as a drum tech and is recording them now at the studi he works at so iv'e gotten to know them quite well, hell of a bunch of guys. They are done recording their EP and they are in the final stages of mixing it. Yeah sure i'll get you a copy, just email me @ [email protected] with your address and ill send it to u when I got a minute when they're ready to release it. Also, their website will be up right before the tourdates so keep checking back. Too bad ya live in Texas! I actually preffer this Apex than the old Apex, it's more interesting, not saying that the old stuff wasnt but this stuff is a little more intricate. The songs they released from their rehearsal have no justice on them live or their newly recorded EP. Take care and hopefully we'll see u in Texas sometime soon!

Alrighty, thanks a bunch man :)

I'll keep checking your website for a Texas date, though I know it may be a while :)

wow, didnt know you lived in tx...me too :)....you have me listening to tAT right now...i think the song that got me addicted to them was their single, Apossibly...that song is awesome

and also, its not that i think hes lost his voice, its just not as exotic as it used to me, sounds a little more mainstream/like everyone else

Edit: does anyone know why he left?

Yep, I love "Apossibly", too! And I live in Texas, too :)

His postings (on VoKee's board) about why he left, Apex, etc.

Starting and singing in The Apex Theory was a great experience. It was a stepping stone, musically and otherwise. I took the positive, learned from the negative and moved on. Quite honestly, I hadn't heard the songs until just now, because of the link provided. I wish them the best of luck with their endeavors. Take care.
Alright everyone, especially those of you who are inclined to degrade and slander people ON THEIR OWN SITE, I think it is time to set the record perfectly straight, because there's a lot of misinformation out there about me.

First of all, I wasn't "kicked out" of either band, and that's the truth. Perhaps people should stop speculating without having the facts. I left System because of an injury as well as creative differences. I wanted to sing. They knew that. And for the record, yes, "BackItUp - Damn It" is right about those two things. Now, it's a non-issue. End of story.

As for Apex, I created the thing, I grew it, I brought the other people into it. We made an album together, toured, experienced things and it was a learning process. It started going in a direction that I just wasn't comfortable with, and so I left to pursue my own band VoKee. Maybe it doesn't make for a juicy story that people with nothing better to do would like to believe, but that's how it went down. I got up and left. I put in my resignation. And while I wish those guys well, I'm glad I did what I did. End of story.

So that's it, like it or not. Please think before you perpetuate rumors. Its not good for anybody, especially for the ones who perpetuate it in the first place. Don't we have better things to do with the time that we are given? I think so....

The latter post was made when some people claimed he was kicked out of System Of A Down and Apex.

Yeah, it does, but I don't mind at all. A lot of musicians are viewed as "amazing" and like to be in control -- Trent Reznor being a perfect example. Billy Corgan, too... Maynard is in that area, too.

I don't mind if he is or isn't in charge, though -- as long as he sings and writes the songs ;)

The Apex Theory drummer Sammy J. Watson dropped us a line to let you guys now that the band, which is now a trio since the departure of singer Andy Khachaturian, is ?putting the finishing touches? on their next EP, titled inthatskyissomethingwatching.

In the meantime, Apex Theory, which also includes guitarist Art Karamian and bassist David Hakopyan are planning shows up and down the west coast next month.

We hope to have sound clips of the new material for you once the band is done working on the ESource: RockRage.com

Pretty much what cryptovocals has been telling us, but good to see RockRage updating it, none-the-l:Ds :D

    • Hello, Christian Maas' XVI32 is a nice (and very small) hex editor. Speaking of hex editors, many years ago a colleague and I who both worked at Tribal Voice managed to edit a copy of the company's PowWow instant messaging client to make it behave better now that all of its lookup servers and other server-side tech was gone.  The program didn't support NAT (RFC-3022 was introduced in January 2001, the same time Tribal Voice was shuttered), but it still worked okay if you manually set up port-forwarding on your router.  The server at http://powwow.jazy.net/ hosts a copy (usual warnings about downloading and running untrusted code from random internet servers apply). I occasionally use some tools like Funduc Software's Search and Replace and Application Mover when I need to make mass-edits to text-based files or move programs with a hard-coded installation directories, respectively.  When I need to figure out the exact LCD panel inside of a laptop, EnTech Taiwan's Monitor Asset Manager is my go-to tool for that purpose. JD Design's website (now hosted on github.io) has a number of interesting freeware and shareware utilities.  I used to use their TouchPro utility to set the file timestamps on software I was mastering to match its version number (e.g., version 3.00 of a program had all of its files dates set to 3:00AM, and so forth). Karenware has a number of interesting freeware utilities, too. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • I still use HexChat! Not really as ancient as the 1994 AutoCAD above my post, but I have never found anything better to replace it. Yes we still operate an IRC server https://www.neowin.net/irc/ 😛
    • At work we still have a couple of people that use a version of AutoCAD LT purchased in 1994. This predates Windows 95 and works fine on versions of Windows up to XP. Its long since run in an locked down isolated XP VM, accessible via RDP. I did install LibreCAD for them, however they said it was just too different to get to grips with. In all fairness one of them is now 75 and the other is almost 60.
    • On my music making (non internet) PC Sony Acid Pro 7.0 Adobe Audition 2015 Korg Legacy Collection Windows 7 SP1
    • Anyway to download these versions without being on the Experimental builds?
