Elliot B.
When I try to install Half-Life (CD 1 of 4; The Half-Life Generation Pack; retail), I get this message: An I/O error occurred while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file." The CD is clean, and I am installing it to an NTFS drive. Any idea what is wrong? I get the exact same error while installing Steam, however if I keep clicking retry it will eventually get to the end of the installation. I cant remember if this also used to happen with my retail HL GOTY CD. That stopped my Kazaa Lite K++ 2.4.3 working and Windows is giving me a lot of memory errors (definetely related to SB S&D!). Now this I/O error. I am going to reinstall Windows XP I think *effort* and stick to Ad-aware.
