shrike
So I bought myself a new PSU. It's great, but.... DANGER, WILL ROBINSON Warning: extra case may be needed to house spare cables HOLY **** There's soo many cables on this damn thing. I'm glad they give people choice, but god damn! adam.sproul
I was ready to read a full review, but this is it. I was also curious because I am having this CPU delivered today. shrike
it's a good one. but seriously... anybody with more than 1 component in their case will be screwed. I only have 2 optical drives, and 2 pata hdds, and there's too many cables. They literally give you a handful. And they're not organised in any form, they're just all bunched up. So you can't just seperate what you use from what you don't, they're all mixed. but I'm still happy.. it's given me stability, and lower temps. DigitalN.
wow dude, this is the dumbest thing ever  MY reviews were better, and they sucked! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/187727-review-antec-truepower-550/#findComment-2443911 Share on other sites
shrike
yeah... I don't actually need all the connectors, or 550w, but I got it for the simple upgrade factor. It will last me years of upgrades. Fedr0
MY reviews were better, and they sucked! Actually I enjoyed your two small reviews. Features, Pro's, Con's and Conclusion. Everything a good review gotta have! (Y) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/187727-review-antec-truepower-550/#findComment-2443930 Share on other sites
shrike
This is just a discussion, under the disguise of a review. I couldn't actually review this thing very well, because I've got nothing really intensive to put against it. It's better for me to state my first opinions about the thing, then get everybody else joining in. Lets call it a running review. jaffa
how about telling something about it? that's the point of a review right? You don't need to compare it to something else you know.. other then the long cables.. does it work good? stable voltages? a lot of noise or something like that... :s? EZRecovery
I bought the same PSU probably like 3 months ago, and it is a great PSU. Yes, it has a bunch of cables. Didn't you pay for QUALITY? :D I'm running 8 HDs with the PSU :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/187727-review-antec-truepower-550/#findComment-2444827 Share on other sites
shrike
The PSU is very good. My last one, AOpen 200w, was noisy as hell. I think all the wiring has made the airflow in my case a little bad, because now it's running at 54? C, but I also have Q-Fan, or whatever, turned off. Word of advice? Don't install the things up the wrong way... with the fan blowing into the case, instead of blowing up to the top. It shot my temperatures up through the 80's. I've got an AMD Athlon 2500+, running at 1.82GHz, on an Asus A7V600. Now don't get all paranoid about temps. I have no other cooling in my case. It's just the PSU fans, and the stock CPU fan. Nothing Else. Plus.. the air in here is pretty stagnent at the moment. No movement. It's a very stable PSU, I've been monitoring the voltages all day, and it's very much what Antec promises. ...like I said.. running review.
