Hi all. We've been using Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 on our windows 2000 network for the last couple years. We're about to upgrade all 5 of our servers to windows 2003 and I was told 8.6 would not work for us anymore. I'm looking for a lower cost alternative to Backup Exec. I've had a lot of issues with B.E. that even their support can't seem to fix for us, but we've lived with it. Between all the add ons I have to purchase (Extra SQL Server backup addon and Exchange server backup addon) it's going to be over 1000 for upgrade licenses.
If it helps, here's a rundown of our network servers that will need to be backed up (We don't backup workstations, we have a shared drive where people can put things they'd like backed up. We use Ghost licenses to just ghost the systems if they get bogged down with spyware/etc).
1. Production MS SQL Server 2000 running W2k
2. Development MS SQL Server 2000 running W2k
3. Exchage 2003 server running w2k -> Main reason for going to w2k3 for the RPC over HTTP feature, will help our telecommuting employees, they'll be able to use outlook 2k3 instead of web access.
4. Backup/Fax/Antivirus Server running w2k (As well as RightFax, Veritas BE 8.6 & Symantec AV 9
5. Web Server running W2k / IIS / Crystal Reports 7
