LCD Monitor Questions..

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 912n, I was wondering what I should clean the monitor with? Is windex safe? Or do I need something special.....

I'd avoid using liquids, probably better off using a clean dry cloth

i just use a damp cloth when cleaning any of my LCD's and they've been fine so far

Read the instruction manual, it will probably say do not use liquids. Mine says you can use a damp cloth to clean it and I think that woks pretty well.

Damp soft lint free cloth and wipe over the screen. Use a dry lint free cloth to wipe the rest away. Personally i dread cleaning my TFT because it takes ages to make it streak free

when your monitor is on, its pretty hard to see the streaks anyway :)

I use Windex on a paper towel. Just squirt a bit on the towel - not on the screen!

With four young boys (one of them a 2 year old) in the house, the screen gets TONS of fingerprint smudges.

For an LCD I totally agree. A slightly damp soft cotton cloth, followed if needed by a dry soft cotton cloth. (Y)

CRT's you can be a bit harsher with, since they are glass screens, I believe.

I don't know if that is good for LCD's though. CRT, maybe, but I think anything besides water on an LCD may be risky. Not sure, but better safe than sorry.

I picked up a tub of these from Best Buy for my LCD monitor and laptop. It says right on there it's safe for such screens and works great; they're too expensive to guess with cleaners.

you can use the cloth's that the eye doctor gives you when you get a pair of glasses .

as for liquid on lcd's i think thats a big no no but i could be wrong.

I think Kensington sells something called SCREEN GUARDIAN for LCD's. It's one of those spray (on cloth) and wipe deals.
