[FX] bangbang023: 07-01-30 [Trunk/Win32](O2/GAL)

Recommended Posts

Downloaded and running.  I guess it's a wait and see thing with the trunk builds.  I haven't seen much on how and when the branch and trunk are supposed to merge.

Me neither. I would love to hear something at least.

One quick question, do I just install the files into the folders, or do I completely overwrite the folders? How do I install these nightly builds?

This is how I've been doing it, it seems to work fine....

If you want to overwrite your existing installation of FX...delete everything in your Firefox folder (not the profile) except for the uninstall and plugins folder. Then move bangbang's files over.

after trying the thrunk builds from Moox I found it very unstable, crashing constantly, its far from usable currently, maybe give it a month or two, and things may improve.

Trunk builds are way behind aviary.. I say keep 1.0 and wait for 1.1 :p

I know the purpose is for testing, but the trunk builds haven't even been usable. Until the branch and trunk merge, I'm sticking with bangbang023's 11/10 build.

Thanks for the support man. You've been one of the more dedicated users.

I don't know what's more broken, the trunk builds or the Fx community. The non stop fanboyism is making me contemplate leaving ths scene.

Just wanted to let you know I appreciate the work you've put into this bangbang... I'm still using your latest build. Hopefully the trunk will become usable soon...

Thanks man. Hopefully the trunk is brought up to speed soon.

Out of a sudden my User Agent string becomes

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041110 Firefox/1.0 (ax)

With no reference to bangbang023, I knew I saw it before.

EDIT: Nvm, It's the ActiveX plugin that changed it.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.

A major compiler is used for both x86/x64 and WoA64 architectures. This also means that all core libraries are re-compiled accordingly which required some changes in the build scripts. One of the core libraries (cURL) has been updated to address vulnerabilities and a nasty linker error that was causing the need for a dedicated patch which could now be eliminated.
