[FX] bangbang023: 07-01-30 [Trunk/Win32](O2/GAL)

There hasn't been any activity on merging the aviary brunk to the trunk because the trunk was on freeze for moz 1.8 a5 release. The planned window for the merge opened today/yesterday with the mozilla release. The idea is to be done with the merging and required regression fixing by the mozilla 1.8a6 freeze, which happens on Wednesday, January 05, 2005 2:59:00 AM

Not sure this is the best place.. but what's the difference between mozila 1.8xx and Firefox, besides it being a multi purpose browser (meaning email and all in one)?? Is it ahead of Firefox behind or basicly the same except more programs rolled into one?

bangbang, its the first time i have used this, i have been looking at this pretty much since it started but always looked a bit complicated for some strange reason. I just downloaded it and see a vast improvement. Will be looking forward to the next builds. By the way, can i unistall FireFox 1 and keep this? but obviously transfer my profile over...

As far as the engine goes, Mozilla 1.8 is ahead of Fx a little bit. Nothing too major, yet.

Yes, you can get rid of the stock Firefox and just use my builds. Thanks for giving them a try.

Thanks again for the support. guys. Seeing more mature users really encourages me to wait out this period of no builds until the branches merge and not leave because of a few ignorant fan boys.

That's good to hear. You have a dedicated user base. I know I'm still using your build.

bangbang, any comments on stability/usability of this build?

Runs pretty well. You will have to clear out your program directory (not the profile directory) and then extract this build.

Can it be used like your last builds was.. along side the latest public release of FireFox.. ie 1.0? I ask cause I installed a trunk version once and had to remove it as it made all versions of FireFox not work. Fact I had to remove them all and reinstall them all (except the trunk, of course). But my Profile was ok.

No, the trunk makes changes to the profile that 1.0 final and any other aviary installs don't like. Sorry guys.

Which is why you can never backup too often. :) But, I can say that so far, I haven't seen a major show-stopper with this build.

lol no wonder, i was trying to compile my own build i thought i was doing sometihng wrong because it wasnt compiling

well, it should still compile fine. What are you using to build it?

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.

A major compiler is used for both x86/x64 and WoA64 architectures. This also means that all core libraries are re-compiled accordingly which required some changes in the build scripts. One of the core libraries (cURL) has been updated to address vulnerabilities and a nasty linker error that was causing the need for a dedicated patch which could now be eliminated.
