BET (Black Entertainment Television)

but i couldn't care less for it.. BET sucks.. it's worse than MTV, really..

They're owned by the same guy, "Sumner Redstone" AKA Murray Rothstein. What some old jewish guy has to do with black entertainment is beyond me. :)

Lojik Supreme: Hollywood is jew-dominated. Always has been. Always will be.

You're right 100%. But it's not just Hollywood either. That's why my country's foreign policy suck a$$ when it comes to the middle east. Lobbying should be illegal.

unO, I assume that you live in Miami with the 305 area code? What makes it so funny is that I'm moving down to Key West at the end of the month. And yes, I'm looking forward to catching some Heat games, even more so with Shaq in town now.

Syracuse, NY = 315 area code

South Florida = 305 area code

Go figure!

I'm not saying I believe this but what if Black people deserve to have BET. We did kind of put them into slavery and all kinds of super-evil things.

Just a thought: hrm :p

Anyways, we definitely couldn't have a white power channel. But the idea behind channels is that they specialize in something. That specialization might be in everything but often times channels specialize in one thing (see ESPN, OLN, Food Network, Cartoon Network, etc...).

Flipping through channels is a freedom. Some channels actually upset me -- I just don't watch them.

And again, we definitely couldn't have a white power channel.

:(

Thats the stuff i'm getting at here. Why is it that if we have a "White Club" that all other races call us racist and discriminatory but they can have their own clubs?

if ur white club makes fun of other races then yeah it is racist. i dont think BET or any of those Latin or Japanese channels say anything to make fun of other races. its a cultural pride thing and shouldnt be taken out of the context that any intellegent person should understand. does BET stop u from watching? do they say no you cant have our channel because your not black? do you feel excluded because of the word black being in the name or because there are few if any whites on the broadcast? then what do you think blacks feel when they turn on friends? frasier? seinfeld? everybody loves raymond? to be honest i think though ur argument may be valid in intention the reality of the matter is that media is predominately white so there is no need for white power to be emblazoned on tv because if it was? it would be ALL over tv.

yea but it's not like general mainstream programming shoves down your throat the fact they're white.. it's just the way it is, and nobody's making a big deal out of it..

but when you name your network after a race and direct your programming based on it, then you can't avoid people feeling excluded.. no matter how good BET might be (which it's not), a white person would (should?) feel awkward watching a station that's marketed for blacks only..

it's a double standard no matter how you put it.

Remember, Hollywood has been white dominiated for decades now. There's no need to state white star power because it's obvious. Look at the Oscars, Halle Berry got hers for playing a crack ###### while getting dug out by Harry Connick Jr., Denzel got his for being a crooked cop. Before that u had Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belfonte. Wow 4 over the course for how many years?

Man you have issues. Denzel Washington did not get his for playing a "crooked cop", and if your intensions are to say that because he was black he got stuck with being the crooked cop then i must referre you to the tons of movies in which white actors have been the bad ones and black actors have been the good characters. Denzel Washington got his Oscar, in my opinion, for being a damn good actor.

Sometimes you never know how to make people happy, had he not gotten his Oscar I'm sure many would attribute that injustice to his ethnicity, but now that he got it many still must bring up his ethnicity. THEN MAN IS A VERY, VERY FINE ACTOR GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!

NO, We did not put them into slavery. Our ancestors did. Not Us!

OMG!! so all those white kids buy/download hip hop u think they feel slighted in the least? i dont see them having a problem listening and hell they probably watch it more than blacks do! and no they dont shove white tv down our throats but its there for us to accept or not accept just like BET is. if the word black makes someone feel uncomfortable would african american make them feel better about it? when u flip past the spanish channel do you think thats discrimatory toward english speaking people?

and if you saw the russian channel praising kruschev u'd be ok with that as well?

fact of the matter is that the powers that be (the FCC) see nothing wrong with it and if they did im sure they'd have no problem shutting them down or fining them. if your offended do what america gives you the right to do change the channel. maybe they can change their phrase to "black stars serving our culture" and you will be ok with it.

NO, We did not put them into slavery. Our ancestors did. Not Us!

Our ancestors also fought for their freedom. Wonder why that was left out...

I think a white television channel wouldn't be bad. Though I can see it being thought of as racist by people that would want to bring it down. I don't watch BET, but have gone past it-- nothing interesting.

no, that's different..

the fact is that programming should be marketed based on the content, not the audience that views it, or who the network feels should view it.. it would be like Playboy being called SexAddicts or the Sci-Fi channel NerdTV.. assuming these denominations aren't offensive, don't you think the people who aren't 'Sex Addicts' or 'Nerds' would feel excluded?

the network feels that channel should be viewed by blacks only.. that's immediatelly alienating the rest of the population..

race is a touchy subject, but answer me this.. would you feel comfortable with a WhiteEntertainmentTelevision network? i am white, and would certainly think twice about watching it..

imagine a nightclub called "For Blacks Only" or something similarly offensive.. if you are white, would you consider going inside?

    • SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500 hands on by Steven Parker I was offered the chance to test out the SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500, and full disclosure, they let me keep it regardless of my findings. Anyway, I jumped at the chance due to my long hours sitting at my desk, mousing around. Apologies for the knife cut across the top of the box; that was my doing, being a bit too heavy-handed with opening up the outer packaging. First up, what's in the box: SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500 1x Type-C charging cable User Manual 1-Year Warranty (card) In short, everything you need to get started. According to the official Amazon listing, here are the key features: Full-Hand Air Compression: OS500 wraps your fingers, palm, and wrist with multi-chamber air compression for a complete hand relaxation experience. The extended massage chamber helps cover more of the hand and wrist area than standard palm-only hand massagers Palm Kneading with 6 Modes & 6 Intensities: Built-in palm kneading rollers add a hands-on massage feel, while 6 preset modes and 6 pressure levels let you choose the comfort level that fits your day—from gentle relaxation to a firmer full-hand massage 3 Heat Levels with Cooling Fan: Choose from 104°F, 113°F or 122°F warmth to suit different seasons and comfort preferences. The built-in cooling fan helps reduce stuffiness during heated sessions, keeping your hand feeling fresh and comfortable Easy Visual Display & Smart Timer: The digital image display clearly shows massage area, mode, intensity, heat level, and remaining time at a glance. Select 10, 15, or 20-minute sessions for quick office breaks, evening relaxation, or everyday hand care Rechargeable, Cordless & Comfortable: A 3000mAh battery supports over 90 minutes of full-function use on a full charge, with convenient USB-C charging. The soft inner lining, smooth ABS/PU finish, and premium black-gold design make OS500 ideal for home, office, or gifting With all that out of the way, here are my own findings. I gave it a try on both left and right hands, and as you can maybe see from the above YouTube Short, (sorry for the shaky video), my whole hand fits in, but my wrist barely enters the Hand Massager. I was able to push through a bit more with my fingertips extending out the other end to get a bit of massaging on the start of my wrist. Usage For some reason, there is a strap that is very difficult to fasten to my wrist with one hand. I am not sure what function it has, and it isn't mentioned in the user manual. The only thing I could find was in the product images that claimed "wrist precision". Unlike the Bob and Brad Hand Massager, this device does not massage the wrist anyway, even though a "wrist mode" is mentioned, which must be for smaller hands than I have, as it is mainly intended for the hand and fingers. In addition, for its steeper price, there are no disposable gloves provided in the box, which is a bit of an issue considering the internal cover (which appears to be elasticated nylon) cannot be removed for washing; so you are left with only one choice: always thoroughly wash your hands before using it. I can imagine this thing getting a bit grimy after a period of use, and that is a bit of a shame. With that said, the buttons on the device, from left to right, do the following: Heat button: 3-level heat control at 104°F, 113°F, or 122°F Mode button: Auto mode Circular mode Soothing mode Relax mode Palm and fingers mode Palm and wrist mode Intensity button: from (First-time users) 15Ka, 25Ka, 35Ka, 45Ka, 55Ka, 60Ka (Intensive relief) Knead button: on or off (6 pressure levels) Power button: Long-press to turn on or off Cooling button: turn on or off the cooling fan Also, in the product imagery, it states there are 36 "custom modes," but nowhere is it listed what these modes are. I can only imagine that they mean a combination of all of the above settings in different intensity levels. The device itself seems to rely on a single "kneading" mechanism located at the palm area of the hand, which spins when in use, and the other massage features are mainly utilized through the air sacs, increasing and decreasing at various levels on the hand and fingers. I am not sure it offered too much relief for someone who is typing and operating a mouse for hours at a time; further testing may be required. It does feel nice, though. Finally, you may be wondering how this fits into the scope of a tech website? Well, let me tell you something: sometimes I sit for up to 15 hours working on Neowin, and although I take breaks in between, it takes a toll on my body. I think in the immediate absence of a partner to apply relief, a good massager like this Hand Massager can shed the strains of the day in just a couple of 15-minute bursts. On the official website, this has an MSRP of $99.99, but luckily for our readers, it is selling at $10 off for just $89.99 right now on Amazon. SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500 for $89.99 (with $10 off coupon), $99.99 MSRP For me, this gets a thumbs hands(?) down. However, it could be improved by making it so that the protective covering could be removed and thrown into the washing machine, or get yourself some disposable gloves to use with it.
