the minis hold up better to extreme conditions, like i had a friend that took his skiing/snowboarding, and it was fine. i dont think my regular could survive that, lol. me personally would not get a mini if i had a regular, a shuffle, yes like for camping and such, but a mini to me seems like sandblasting a cracker...

It's USB, although it does come with a PS/2 converter if needed.
