Actually, Going to get one around Christmas, going for the 20" with a VESA kit and a Moview articulating armature (Check out the Elite Arm).

How did you get 5.1 surround on your pwr mac?

586745015[/snapback]

Either via a stereo>surround adapter or through the optical audio out, it supports 5.1 channels with one fiber cable, or via a PCI X card (revolution makes some great 5.1 and 7.1 channel cards, although they are pricey as they are really meant more for professionals). Personally, I would love to go route 2, but cannot afford to spend upwards of $300 on a speaker setup for it, so I went the first route, which is not the best.

^you may also want to consider the Dell 2405fpw, it can be had for less than a 100 more than the student discount price of a 20" acd with the right coupons. I am also considering both of these monitors for around christmas time, and I have to say 4 extra inches for not much more seems mighty nice to me (if the coupons and deals are around at the time).

^ I would except for A) I am trying to keep the total cost of the setup under a grand and B) I really want an Apple display. Call me a nerd, but I want it to match my G5 :ninja:

here is my setup:

i ended up getting a sound blaster live usb card (~$50) from creative.. its not supported on the box or anything, but thank god it showed up as an output/input device; i was going nuts when i bought my logitech z 5500's without any way of using all 5 satellites lol.

I assume you don't have a G5 with the optical outs, because those are the speakers I want for their optical connection....

My second iMac arrived this morning.

Did not expect to get it till monday. Thing is much faster than the Rev A iMac's

That looks amazing Timan. Can't wait till I get mine.

How does the remote stay attached to the side?

Heres mine!!

OMG H4XX0RED FRONT ROW. :ninja:

I have no idea how they thought that'd stay only on the new iMac, but whatever. It'd be nice to see it included with every new Apple computer in the future.

Anyway, here's my shiny new desk. It cost me ?34, quite the bargain.

Almost makes up for still being on a Rev. A iMac.

    • There really isn't anything magical about the low latency profile, other OS's do this as well. All they're doing is using your CPUs boost clock options in a more smarter way.
    • So we shouldn't have the option because of people using their laptops on battery? OK? LOL
    • If you hear that fans for a limited time the CPU spikes to open a app I don't think the problem is with the software. There shouldn't be enough time spent at the higher clocks to produce enough heat to peak the fans. Maybe it's time to crack those dell laptops open and clean them out?
