lcd's are unaffected by magnets, and i would assume they would put the harddrive on the opposite corner of the magnet, otherwise there is no real problem with having a magnet on a computer

plus that remote is so light. it doesn't take a strong magnet at all to hold it.

right like in the powerbook and ibook, there is a weak magnet that pulls the latch down for the screen.

The magnet is so weak if you push on the remote it slides off), but it stays up there nicely.

You can also use the remote in, QT, iTunes, DVD Player, Preview/iPhoto (slideshow) all work great.

Timan, do you find the iSight distracting at all? Personally I think that is a design flaw - surely Apple could of made the iSight white so it didn't clash with the iMac's otherwise sleek and stylish design.

tbh you don't really notice it, and when you do it looks ok, looks like its supposed to be there. Only problem with it, I can not figure out how to focus it, was trying to scan a few items in Delicious Library but I couldn't focus on the bar codes.

I think it has to be black. Wouldn't the space around the camera itself reflect too much light if it has the same white color as the iMac?

Anyway just a thought.

thats what i was thinking neowave, sort of like any camera you see (dig or film) has a black aperture so i guess this isn't any different.

Maybe they could of given it a white shutter or something so it wasn't so visable when you weren't using it.

I think it depends on its location & shielding if a magnet can be used. On the older iSights the mount has a magnet in it and its RIGHT next to the harddrive. So it must depend on the shielding they use

Got my Big ass Dell 2005 FPW running off my 12" Powerbook, along side it is my 4th Gen 40GB iPod and a k700i.

K700i is really old by today's mobile standards...dunno why people would complement you on it...
