it's a ribbon cable and it has 3 plugs and yet you're telling me it doesn't exist.

We aren't saying that you don't have such a cable in front of you.

We are saying it is not an IDE cable. They only support 2 devices.

[EDIT: Even though it is not a true IDE cable, it is likely pinned so it will still work, but it will still have a two device limit.]

hmmm... your not opening it... that's too bad because the next thing I was going to ask you are these:

Which motherboard you have (i.e. Gigabyte k7-nl100)

And to write down anything that is writtin on your hardrive and dvd...

Why that? We might find out valuable information (as for scsi and other thing)

Hmmm... well, if you happen to open your computer, something that really need to be doing while it's open is take your motherboard manufacturer and model. These are valuable information that can really give us some kick to help you out.

Point is the cable you described won't work in your computer....

I'm still questioning whether it exists...

From what you've said it seems to be working like a normal IDE cable supporting only two devices.

SCSI, IDE and SATA doesn't have the same number of pins... scsi have different type (narrow, wide, ...) but none have the same number of pins... same for SATA and IDE. This is made on purpose so you don't use the wrong cable... yes, a 40 pins cable can fin a 72 one, but then, you have loose pin...

But you guys are forgetting something: only 1 of the 3 drives aren't showing up...

I haven't forgotten that. :p That is because the two slave devices are conflicting and cannot use the IDE at the same time, so neither will work.

At least, that is my assumption, as I don't know of any cases (until now) where someone has managed to connect three devices on an IDE cable. :rofl:

      There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
