Cannot Delete Folder In Win Xp

I installed a few months back Ulead Photo Express 4.0"graphic program " Into my Program Files Directory.

However just in the last few days it did not work so i uninstalled it via the add and remove programs on the control panel.

Then i rebooted my system. When i went back to deleting the folder it was originally installed to win xp will not allow me to delete the folder is says. "CANNOT DELETE FILE: CANNOT READ FROM THE SOURCE FILE OR DISK".

The folder is empty and it shows up in window explorer but ive installed some folder/file remover programs they say the folder does not exist ??? but it does exist. Ive tried anything. ive re-installed ulead photo express 4.0 back into the folder it does not work. I cannot install it becuase it says ive allready installed it. But it has been removed.

Can anyone help me please.

Ive even gone into safe mode and tried to delete this folder, it comes up with the same problems. Ive also done a system restore no luck there. :(

chkdsk /f may help.

But usuallly it deletes after restart, it's strange that it didn't work in your case

Just thought about this - the folder may be locked by some application. It sounds strange, but nontheless, try to download WhoLockMe application and test this folder with it.

open command.

bring up taskmanager, kill explorer.exe

back to command/run and delete the folder :)

should work. if not, i dunno either :blink:

The solution was to delete it from another machine on the network, you may be able to do that 'virtually' if you go to start, run and type

\\<YOURCOMPUTERSNAME>\c$

and then find and delete it

Ive done anything you guys said and i still cannot delete this folder.

Wholockme program says theres nothing locking the folder.

The taskmanager procedure dont work becuase dos says the folder does not exist where it does exist??

Hmm that is really strange. I can suggest 2 options:

1. Reformat

2. Get NU suite and try to repair this folder with Norton Disk Doctor

The first option is not good at all, so try to find NDD. It may help

Are you sure that chkdsk /f did not find anything???

chkdsk /f will not work it says NTFS system LOCKED. How do i unlock it
