5G iPod Wishlist

Recommended Posts

Just a far, far superior battery life. Color screen isn't needed, wireless earbuds are pretty stupid, what happens when they fall out? FM Tuner would be ok but not at the sacrifice of weight.

So from me:

20+ hours of battery life

Smaller

The wireless/bluetooth module wouldn't be something you'd plug into the iPod. It would alread be in the iPod (nothing would fall out).

I thought all this stuff sounded really good until I read Phillip's post... which kinda made a lot of sense.

Who needs all these extras when we've already got the perfect piece of kit. A further price drop would be nice though (without taking bits and pieces out of the box ie. lack of dock).

Edit: will people stop moaning about battery life. I don't think Apple currently have the technology to boost battery life by say another 2 hours.

Eh my .02

Longer battery life is still a must at least 16+ hours since i work 12 hours days

bluetooth i would say only for a wireless remote you clip on your collar or somthing to that effect i can live with wired headphones

abillity to advance to the next playlist on the remote would be very nice

and smaller size

I?d love to see wi-fi. Think about it, you walk into the range of your computer and it syncs your tunes without even taking your iPod out of your pocket. MAC filtering could be used to make sure that it syncs with the right computers (all configurable within iTunes). Also allow your iPod to communicate with Airport Express so you could have your iPod in your pocket coming back from work/school, turn on the stereo and continue your listening.

Bluetooth/Wireless headphones would be the selling point for me  i've been wishing for them since I was in 5th grade :D

The one thing that might be holding it back is security. You don't want some guy next to you listening off of your iPod (without you knowing), or even worst copying your songs.

You listen to music 12 hours a day? I would get a headache after all that...

(and youre allowed to listen to music at work? )

Hmmm.....

1. Longer Battery Life - Agreed.

2. Color/Video Playing Capabilities - Playing Video on such a small screen would be pointless and that would just guzzle battery life anyway.

3. Wireless Headphnes - Thats not really an improvment. You can probably buy those seperatly and then headphones would need batterys and everything. Why need wireless headphones anyway? Its not like your iPod is ever far enough from your head phones dont work.

4. Cheaper - I agree , It is a very good product but their are other MP3 Players that are almost just as good and possiblly have more capabilties/stuff and are cheaper.

5. FM tuner - That would just add to the bulk of the iPod. The entire point to the iPod is to cary your own music anyway. But it would be pretty kool as an accessory.

6. Wirelessly trade music between to iPods - Erm...The iPod comes with a sticker that says "Please dont steal music" and then they give you a feature that lets you take music from other iPods? I dont think so

7. Removable/Chargable Battery - Yes. I think it would be useful. If they dont increase the battery life then atleast you could be able to swap it for a charged battery.

8. Smaller - Yah , It would be nice if it was smaller but all this crap you are suggesting above would pretty much prevent a decrease in size if not an increase.

But I wouldnt mind abit brighter screen.

I would like

- Slightly smaller design, retaining the same size screen (SLIGHTLY, don't want it getting like the mini's)

- Better sound quality (Better Bass!)

- Inbuilt bluetooth, whilst retaining current 4G battery consumption.

- Colour OLED screen, whilst retaining current 4G battery consumption.

- Blue neon lights behind the scroll-wheel (to light up the buttons/outer edge of the wheel), again, keping the battery the same.

- White scroll wheel.

That would make the perfect 5G iPod to me.

Huh? I was talking about wireless bluetooth headphones, if they fall out they just hit the floor.

err?? lol they already do infrared headphones for a multitude of things so doing the same thing with bluetooth is not a problem (There are already music Bluetooth headsets not just for phones no more). AWAI for instance are in the middle of making there own headset which is very close to coming to market. (I will most likely buy them if they are compatible with my iBooks internal bluetooth Dongle)

    • Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes by Usama Jawad Visual Studio 2026 recently netted a powerful feature that finally allows developers to review Git Pull Requests (PRs) directly in the integrated development environment (IDE), without needing to switch to the browser. However, that's not all that Microsoft introduced in the latest version, as it also offered a useful way to customize the IDE to their heart's content. Although Visual Studio 2026 already provides lots of stock themes based on Fluent Design principles, Microsoft understands that people still want to customize them further according to their preferences. The IDE now offers a new configuration page for themes under Tools > Options > Environment > Visual Experience > Theme colors. This allows you to set hex color codes for accent colors, hover states, and more, and apply them without requiring a restart. The Redmond tech giant further says that: Microsoft is also offering granular color tokens that allow you to customize various UX elements like the tab header without impacting the rest of the shell chrome. Your themes are also stored in JSON format in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\18.0_xxxxxxxx\ColorThemes, which basically enables you to share it with others or override existing themes. This is a major improvement in terms of the user experience powering these customization capabilities. This is because extensions were required to replace the theme, and it was not very easy to make minor adjustments. This theme configuration UX solves this problem and is available in Visual Studio 2026 version 18.7, available here.

    • A few weeks ago, I had this same exact issue. Unfortunately, I didn't think of disabling the Secure Boot option in BIOS. I updated my BIOS to the latest version for my MB and it resolved the issue.
