With FireFox, you have the source code. You can put in any security stuff that you want to. If you want to block stuff during three hours of the day on Tuesday and Thursday, you can program that in, recompile and link and have your custom security.

It's actually pretty easy with the patch system. I post my changes in the form of patches with an apply script. So folks can just pull the source code, run the apply script and it will apply the patches. This has been working quite well for several months.

We have a few developers that have shown interest in making code changes. Most of the time, folks do code changes for something that they want but we will look at other stuff too. And there are lots of builders around that do optimized nightly builds and will do custom builds upon request if you ask nicely and if they're not on vacation.

Firefox loads text faster, but takes a longer time to load images.

Overall, IE will finish the page quicker, but tend to pop lots of the page up at once after it's loaded it, slowing down the loading of text on pages.

Just my personal experience with a lousy 256k internet connection.
