I love the look of the theme, I just can't stand the slate start button. It's fugly.

I know you didn't design the start button your just porting it but whomever did seriously need's their eyes checked.

awesome, really the best port yet, although there are some flaws like Schmoove mentioned it's still very useable, only thing I don't like that much is the gradient on the captionbar on all styles except athens on the right it is a bit...odd?!? but I can still live with it the way it is now...nice work!

Anyways let me start by saying that I love your work, you make awesome themes KoL. Your Panther/Tiger VS is flawless and there are a lot more visual styles that are just amazing.

Though, when I saw this I was really disappointed. It is a jaggie fest all over. A lot of graphics look like anything but polished. It's probably because the current longhorn theme can't be ported to XP in a decent way, I don't know, but I can honestly say this is your worst theme ever.

XP just doesn't support all the flexibility longhorn will offer and it hurts the theme.

I'm sorry this sounds really negative, but I can't help it.... it just isn't up to your normal standards.

Just my opinion.

(I'll probably get a lot of people flaming me now, but you know what.... I don't care, go ahead)

Remenber I made this theme for fun, not to be a nice theme just an exact copy of Longhorns themes (or almost ) and beleive me everything in the theme is like they are in Longhorn. Those jaggies are the way they are in Longhorn, people that have used Longhorn before know that.

The only thing it needs which is out it the aero transformation pack which changes the explorer bar to look like the longhorn aero bar.

It also needs the little picks where it says video/picture/audio tasks on the side pane in my computer.

But other than that Looks Really really good

When Longhorn comes out, all you people will ask for other Visual Styles since you will be bored to death about its default style because you are using it now. I am tired of Longhorn themes as tired I am of Aqua themes. We need innovation, something new. Kol, you have got the talent; think of something new, innovate.

ok first its ok if you dont like it or your tired of all the ports. I didnt make this theme thinking of everyone, I kknow this is not for everyone.

I remember back in 2000 and beggining of 2001 everyone have their deskop looks like XP then when XP comes out everyone wanted to change it. This is going to happen with Longhorn everyone want to mod their PC to look like longhorn but will hate the theme when it comes out. People like to have (or make it look) what is not out yet.

Maybe you need innovation but I dont need innovation right now, Right now I wanted my PC look like longhorn. If I want to have ssomething new them I'll make something new but right now Im happy with my "Longhorn" desktop :D

I'm sorry. No wait, I'm not sorry. This is SHAT. I don't care how many themes you've released, and I don't care how good of a quality they have been. This theme and its sub-styles are hideous. People seem to go nuts when a ripped microsoft theme is released. I don't know why, they are always ugly as sin. The same goes with this. The buttons, the titlebar, the scrollbar, all use horrible gradients. The themes themselves are so poorly designed it would make baby jesus cry. Just because Kol is a good themer does not give him the right to release this atrocious beast. This theme is as usable as a tampax is to a man.

I'm using Longhorn Aero now, and I'm speechless on how it looks. Words are just simply not enough to describe the beauty of this Windows Theme.

(OK, maybe Longhorn Athens looked a bit ugly, but this port of the "Longhorn" Windows Themes are just incredible)

You might be speachless because you can't believe you're using such a ridiculous theme. Hey I know, it was made by Microsoft! I wanna use it! "But dude it's hideous!" I don't care, it's by microsoft!

I release whatever I want. If I want to make and release a theme with pink, green, read and yellow gradients I'll do it.

I, myself, dont like the themes (Jade and Aero) this is just something that I wanted to try.

I agree with you. Longhorn looks suck. If I was MS' fanboy, I'll make exactly port to be like MS. But at least it's combination between Windows and Mac and it's the future of Windows. I've tried to improve crappy design and remove glitches in resources to improve its quality. I like Plex because it's blue (my favourite color) and I've been working so long about year with it before Slate comes (about 13-15 releases for one theme with long changelog). I'm happy with it but at time Slate was released, I refused ppl who requested me to make Slate and tell them someone will make it in no time. I waited about one day but no one. I hate Slate as much as I hate tomato. To come and think of it again, I decided to make Slate port due to purpose I think I have to. I released unofficial one first as original and release it again with Mistic mod. I made exactly mod for 1.0 and no more for accurately work. So I think I'll try making better Slate in the next release. To conclude this, I wanna make Longhorn looks better from **** to something I can accept to use. That's what I meant to do for Longhorn.

kol said he released this for fun. he doesn't expect everyone to use it, and surely doesn't expect everyone to like it. and if you don't like it, don't comment and don't return to this thread again.

this thread is called "longhorn for xp. MY (kol) longhorn port", which means he can modify any visual elements to his taste. if you can't come up with something better, then sit down and stfu

      It depends, but it's also going to push more adoption of open source AI models that can run locally, I'm seeing a pattern among the US and China when it comes to closed and open source AI models, they close when they feel they have the advantage, open up when they feel they don't. This has little to do with security and everything to do with control, the irony is that the ones that do go open and get the community behind them are the ones that have the real control, hence why we keep seeing this seesaw from closed to open.       A person should only be required to click through to an article if they want to know more details. The headline should give basic facts. A basic fact would include the name of the service being shut down.

      That would probably be a good outcome, but it would also require other "features" be changed to comply, such as Auto play, scrolling, and advertising. Having the laws shift these platforms back to a socially responsible and useful places is a benefit for everyone. The addictive nature is the problem, and while many blame the individual, psychologists would suggest the platform is using a well trodden playbook to hook in more revenue..

      It was a rather nice rant as I rather dislike when people support the shitifcation of the Internet. My comment also factually applied the definition of "clickbait' to this headline unlike your comment. I have been reading this site for some 20 years now so I will call them out when they are doing carp they shouldn't be doing but thanks for your concern. You can't even do a search by headline anymore to do a quick search to find something because most of the titles lack all the relevant keywords that should be there.
