eversor
I always used MyIE2 as my primary Browser and tried FireFox sometimes. It somehow never convinced me... But right now MyIE2 (or Maxthon) is really getting on my nerves (really annoying bugs) and i want to make the switch. The thing is i reall can't browse without the drag 'n drop feature MyIE2 supoorts. You just drag a link and drop it somewhere on the window and it open the link in a new tab. Or even better it regognizes what you drag'n'drop. If you drop an url (without being a hyperlink, just plaint text) it opens the url and if you mark same text, you just drag'n'drop it to search for it in google. The other thing is adressbar searching. It really reduces time spent searching. And i don't mean an additional search box. Does FireFox offer the same functionality (through some plugin)? If so can you explain me how to enable it. Thanks. MfG.Eversor Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/199348-questions-regarding-firefox/ Share on other sites
null_
TabBrowser Extention should do it I think Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/199348-questions-regarding-firefox/#findComment-584303791 Share on other sites
dreamz Veteran Posted August 5, 2004 Veteran Share Posted August 5, 2004 yup, it does! no need for extensions either. double-click a word or phrase, drag it into the search bar, and it automatically searches google. drag a url into the address bar and it opens the page (though i prefer middle-clicking links). and yes, the address bar can be used as a search bar. eversor
TabBrowser Extention should do it I think Thanks for the info. But i don't find any drag n drop feature. Is it just hard to find in this jungle of options or isn't there one? quanta
You can get the usual Google search results page by adding a "g" to the beginning of a search query. For example: "g neowin". There are tons of search plugins at http://update.mozilla.org , I'm sure you'll find what you need! There is a plugin called Text Links where you can open a plain text URL in a new tab just by double-clicking it. Kasteo
The feature you want called "Super Drag&Go extension". Somebody who switched from MyIE2 made it. You can get it from here... http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=376 I found it's a very useful extension. I never used MyIE2 before but once I try this extension on Firefox, I found it feel much better than middle click on a regular Firefox. eversor
How will i install some of these extensions? I installed the TabBrowser Extension by simply dragging it onto the FireFox Screen. But this doesn't work for any other of the extensions i wanted to install. The Extension Manager only allow me to de-install and update extensions and not to install new ones. Is there another way? MfG.Eversor P.S. I didn't install FireFox i choosed the zip version. eversor
Somehow there was no edit Button? Is there some kind of timeout for the Edit Button? Anyway just wanted you to know that i found out ow to install extensions manually. If another noob like is interested: Just open the extension manager and drag and drop the extension you want to install (i think there should be a little message on the extension manager window that tells you that) on this window... So i finally got SuperDrag Drop working. Aaah So much better than MiddleClick or Strg+Click.
