AutoPatcher XP 4.6 (August '04 Release) Info

Recommended Posts

Far as I have heard, 9.0c

It's 9.0c. :) Oh, a little update on status, I was busy ALL weekend. I took Maple to the Iowa State Fair on Saturday, and Sunday was her parent's anniversary so I was over there all Sunday. So, I'm gonna try and finish up today.

Not an official one... I need someone who knows XML and VB6 to help code one (any takers? ;)).

EDIT - Quick update, testing will begin tomorrow... had some minor problems with the Lite Edition, and then ended up having to help Maple cook dinner (we had Penne Con Tonno e Mozzerella and Gnocchi di Spinaci e Ricotta... all from scratch. Burnt my finger good frying the Gnocchi...:(). So, I'll work that all out tonight and tomorrow. (Y)

I know VB,

I'll see what I can do for you.

[Title Editted]

Figured this will just be called "August Release" now.  Hope you all don't mind.  :)

/me goes to edit "July" out of everything...

I think AutoPatcher XP SP-1 Final Release would avoid confusion.

Unless of course you are planning on future updates of the SP-1 version.

If you are going to make sp2 only versions from now on I would realy hate that.

I Will NOT switch to sp2, simply because it sucks hard with all those apps not running, stinking tcp/ip redone etc.

I was only forced by usb2.0 and your autopatcher to switch to sp1, which I would have left where it was if I didnt need usb2.0  .

Why does this stinking os always put usefull things together with the biggest ****.

Well, I may keep making SP1 releases for awhile, I'm sure MS will still release patches, so why not. :)

Clean install.

If that doesn't work your hardware is having issues

FlishFun i feel n00bish saying this but im not exactly sure what AutoPatcher is or does *hides to avoid the nOob!!1!!!!111111! comments* but nonetheless feel free to upload the update version to my FTP site (if its still on because there are alot of a*sholes in this world that my ruin it :( ). I ask you the update version cuz its only 100MB storage so i can only host the lightest one.

Will the 4.6 release coincide with an Ultra Lite release? I used to install the full release, but now I just use the ultra lite version as I either don't need all of the other stuff the full release includes, or I just manually install certain programs it does have on my own. I really like the UL release....no bull, just patches! Hope to see a v4.6 of this as well with some of the updates.

Yep, there will be an UltraLite release. And for those of you wondering, I decided to rebuild my PC over the weekend and am just finishing that up. The AP will be released soon after. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

    • Along with that and very unfortunate for Linux, the AI boom/tariffs/global supply chain instability really destroyed any chances of it getting a decent chunk of market share. By all accounts, if a Steam Deck was still available for $399 (with tons of alternatives releasing at $500-$800 - instead of $1500+ now) and the Steam Machine was out there for $499, I think a lot of people WOULD have been willing to try SteamOS and switch away from Windows. But yeah, with the crazy jacked up prices now, people have to make safe bets with their money.
    • Neowin hasn't been covering the Ladybird browser but it has been posted about on a lot of tech and Linux/open source sites. I have been following the effort myself for almost a year now. Cloudflare and Proton are among their sponsors. You can read the why here--> https://ladybird.org/#about
    • That's really the user's problem, not the developers. It's not like the Windows 10 EOL was a surprise. Once a product goes out of support, you have to understand YOU are owning the risk of running it - the rest of the world will move on, maybe you'll be OK, maybe you'll be OK for a while, maybe you'll have an issue.... But you can't expect devs to write or certify software for dead operating systems.
    • Not mentioned in this blog post is that Linux has now dropped for 2 months in a row. At a hight of 5.33% in March, then 4.52% in April and now 3.99% in May. I suspect the end of Windows 10 got a bunch of people to try Linux, fueled by all the Microsoft hate, and rabid social media push of that....and now they are going back to Windows 11 because of the normal Linux issues. The vast majority of PC gamers want to use their computers to game and not trouble shoot why a game wont work, or half work.
    • do these change.org petitions ever do anything besides give people a place to complain?
