Counter-Strike: Source has not been leaked

Recommended Posts

There are a few of us trying to inject some sense into the "Preload CS:Source early!" thread, but the weight of posts is keeping the rumour going.

  • The cache file for Counter-Strike: Source could, for a small amount of time, be downloaded by people outside of Cybercafes by executing a hidden link through the Run command.
  • The cache that these people and cybercafes downloaded is encrypted and cannot be used.
  • Some member have posted images of Counter-Strike's HL1 content laid on top of the 2003 leak. THIS IS NOT THE GAME! This is Counter-Strike 1.6 with fancy water and terrible stability. You are better of with the HL1 version.
  • Nobody can play Counter-Strike: Source, at all, until the cache files are unlocked for cafe owners tomorrow.
  • Even then, you will not be able to load the game unless you are a cybercafe owner! There is simply no way.

Now please, desist with these stupid rumours and stop getting people's hopes up!

This was posted in the other thread, it bears repeating.

People can do it, but it's kind of a goofy thing to do since pre-loading doesn't give you the authentication necessary to play. It's like having a copy of an encrypted file - you have it but you can't do anything with it without the right keys to decrypt it.

If people want to do it, they can, but it's no more exciting than going to someone's Steam installation and copying a cache file. And there are lots of other useless blobs of binary data people can download (e.g. the Catwoman trailer) that don't take away bandwidth from our content servers.

Cyber-Caf?'s go live tomorrow.

1) Correct, I posted the run command.

2) Incorrect, its not encrypted, GCFScape can open it and extract its contents.

3) The image I posted WAS from CS: Source, check the background of my pic against the one inside the GCF file if you want. You'll find they match.

4 & 5) There ARE ways of loading the game, no, I wont tell you how, sorry.

Just thought I'd clear that up ^^

OMG my life is over

I can't play it for another 8 days NOOOOOOOOOOO

Some people need to get lives and quit crying over a 2 map beta of a horrible FPS

WHY Aren't u playing doom 3?

Are you serious?Half Life and CS are far from horrible.Doom 3 has a horrible multiplayer experience so far and there is only a few maps to play online with doom 3 unlike HL which has plenty. And the gameplay is quite different (I think HL's is better).
