Using Dell OEM XP Disk for slipstream

Recommended Posts

WitePony you need to use you orginal xp home disc that came with your dell install it. Run keyfinder and that will give you your serial number. My serial number that is with my compaq cd is different then the one on the sticker of the pc case. If use the one on pc case I have to activate windows but I use the run keyfinder gave me when had window xp that came with compaq I didn't have to activate.

It probably won't work - unless you - by mistake of course  - have copied the setupp.ini from your Dell OEM CD to the slipstreamed image. :x

..... yeah, uh, I hate it when that happens....anyways, working like a charm now, thanks guys!!!

Right used Auto Streamer. That done its business. But ended up with an image of 764.6 MB.

Now quick question is, if I was to delete certain folders which I know aint on a normal XP disk. Will the CD still function as normal or would it bork up with errors coz its going to have missing links. Hope you know what I mean. Here's a SS anyways of what folders I have. Open to suggestions ;)

Can someone give me a listing of their ASMS folder?

Mine failed to install, it says files in the ASMS folders are corrupt.

And then I decided to remove the 10100, 60100, and the 70100 folders because there is no reference to them in

My XP is not going to crap out is it?
