How does ATI's trade-up program work?

I've been curious as to how the trade-up program works...

Do you pay the "trade-in" price, then they'll send you the new card, in which you then send in your current ATI card for $50 back?

Is it worth it? Anyone ever try it?

I'm looking at this and thinking that simply selling the old card on eBay and buying the new card would be much simpler...

I don't think its worth it since you'd only would be getting back $50 on lets say a RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB AGP which you could sell off for at least $150

and yea how it works is you pay full price for the card and then they send you $50 once they recieve your card

Agreed. You can sell it off ebay and get a lot more than $50.

But you can send them any card you want.

ATI's trade-up program allows you to upgrade your existing graphic card, no matter who made it, to the following boards listed below:

The only downside is that they usually charge $50 than the market does for the cards.

NOTE: You will be charged the Trade-In Price plus the Trade-in Credit. The Trade-in credit will be refunded upon return of your old graphics board.

you bring in what you got... they give you $50 off the trade-up price... you MUST trade up you can't get money and walk away.
