blackcoffee
Hmmm, I like this thread, I'm a huge fan and respector of Quentin Tarantino (but I wouldn't say he makes MINDBLOWING films) His dialogue was definately a setting stone for film's later on especially his "style". But besides that, Spielberg and his Saving Private Ryan opening sequence was simply, How could you not feel like you were fighting along side their company @ Omaha? I also like the efforts by Danny Boyle, who seems to direct again and again simply awesome films w/ a fantastic sense of characters, style and charm that I always go back too. His last film "28 Days Later" was simply a beautiful, dark, all together amazing film which I will always study again and again. thebigj
I dont know what you mean but "mindblowing" so ill just list my favorite directors. Michel Gondry Spike Jonze(If by mindblowing you mean intensely creative and colorful, this director and Michel Gondry are your best bets.) Quentin Tarantino David Fincher Peter Jackson(I liked LOTR but im mainly refering to his earlier works, Meet the Feebles, Braindead) Francis Coppola Terry Gilliam Darren Aronofsky Wes Anderson and of course the one and only (non US director) (best ever) TAKASHI MIIKE!!!!!!11! Not really the best EVER but his movies are awesome. IMHO Spielberg and McTiernan are the most overrated directors ever, Cameron also is, but Aliens was cool, and Singer's only good work was Usual Suspects.
