WinRAR Interface Update

Question

Hey,

I sent this message to the WinRAR team recently:

WinRar Developers,

I know you guys probably don't have much time, so I'll make this

short.? I would buy WinRAR if it wasn't so ugly - it looks straight

out of Windows 3.1.? No offence of course - you guys have an amazing

program - but it REALLY needs an interface update.

Keep up the good work!

and I received this reply:

Hello,

If we find a good designer able to improve WinRAR icons, we'll update

the interface. Thank you for suggestion.

Eugene

So... Any icon/image customization experts (I.e. Food, Kol, ppl like that) want to take a stab at it? Who knows you might get a nice royalty, plus you get to make WinRAR not only the best archive app, but the best looking!

Current WinRAR interface:

They should pay somebody to make these icons or at least give the person a free registration. Companies pay big money for icons and graphics that are used in their apps. I love WinRar too, but with all the money they are making I wouldn't make anything for them without compensation.

interface and etc is not such of an issue. But i do hope that at least the icons get some make up.

With all the icons looking alike, i have no idea whether the file is a zip, 7zip, rar or etc.

Powerarchiver icons are good in this department..but i still prefer winRAR

That is my biggest complaint!

Yeah mine too, although if you look at the file type description it states WinRAR Zip archive for zip files and WinRAR archive for everything else - I only really use rar and zip so I can live with this.

I would like it if they used Powerarchiver type icons - they're perfect IMO. I hope they keep the standard WinRAR icon though and just add a small section to display the file type.
