Nero & Nero Express Image Burning Tutorials

Burning an image file with Nero Express

I'm using Nero 6.3.1.17, some older versions don't allow Express to burn images. This procedure works for bootable images as long as the boot information is contained within the image file. For a non-bootable image, follow the same steps.

I will make a tutorial on using Nero after this is finished for those of you with older versions that don't allow Express to burn images.

Open Nero Express, then select your burner, then simply select "Disc Image or Saved Project"

NeroExpress1.jpg

Then using the dropdown box at the top of the window, navigate to where ever you have stored the image you want to burn.

In the "Files of type:" dropdown box at the bottom, select the proper image format so your image will show in the folder listing. I am using my .ISO of AutoPatcher for demonstration purposes only. This same procedure works for ALL image formats.

Now select your image file and click the "Open" button

Your next screen will look something like this:

If you haven't done so already, put a blank cd in the burner

Then click the "Next" button and sit back and wait.

Nero does it's part and in a minute or 2, you will have a working cd.

Burning an image file with Nero Burning Rom

I'm using Nero 6.3.1.17. This procedure works for bootable images as long as the boot information is contained within the image file. For a non-bootable image, follow the same steps, unless you want to make a non-bootable image bootable. You will find that information elsewhere. I simply don't feel like going into it right now. Read on.

I assume you know enough to select the proper burner before you go any further so I won't detail that here.

Open Nero Burning Rom and you will see the familiar Wizard open. If your version has it, just click the "Open" button in the lower right corner of the wizard. If your version does not have the "Open" button in the lower right corner, then just close the wizard by clicking either "Cancel" or the "X" button.

Nero1.jpg

For those without the "Open" button on the wizard screen, after you close the wizard, use the toolbar up top and click File > Open

Nero5.jpg

From here, navigate to your image file and if needed, use the "Files of type:" dropdown box at the bottom of the window to make your image show up in the folder view.

Nero2.jpg

Click your image file, then click the "Open" button.

You will want to finalize the cd, so check the appropriate box.

Nero3.jpg

Then click the "Write Method" dropdown box and select "Disc-at-once"

If you haven't already done so, now is the time to insert a blank cd in the burner.

Nero4.jpg

Now click the "Burn" button and sit back and wait. All done.

Thanks.

Yes they are very straightforward, but you might be surprised at the huge numbers of people that can't seem to figure it out. I used to spend loads of time on newnet and I was always being asked how to burn an image with Nero. Almost every time, whoever was asking had burned their image to cd as a data file and then wondered why it wouldn't work. Now that I've moved to efnet, it's not so bad, but there's still loads of people who can't figure it out on their own. So I figured I'd throw this tutorial together in the hopes that maybe some of those people will find it and read it.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
    • I guess we are done since you refuse to read my comment you replied to or my other comment in another thread you were also a part of here.
    • I hate Slack, but Teams is much worse - maybe they've already optimized it, but it was a huge slog the last time I've checked about half a year ago. I miss my Skype.
    • Just ended up switching to Ubuntu. Not sure why I waited.
