Windows Update V5 Client Software

Anyone know how to get the Windows Update V5 Update software?

I know it installs the first time you go to http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/, but I want the packaged ActiveX files that it installs so I can include them in my unattended XP SP2 post-installation setup.

The activeX control WUWebControl Class is located in %systemdrive%\Windows\Downloaded Program Files

Properties of the file should show the following details...

and it has 2 dependencies so you will want to make sure those get included as well..

Hope this is what you were looking for. I cannot find a distibutable package but I could put one together quickly if you really needed it.

...incidentally, all properly installed ActiveX controls are located in the path mentioned above. This may be usefull for other controls you might want to include
