WinXP won't install drivers for videocard

I've just installed a new ASUS V8170 Geforce 4 MX440 card and it installs and runs perfectly in WinME but everytime I try to install either Nvidia's detanators or the ASUS drivers for the card I get "Data is invalid" and the drivers don't install. I've tried all the 27.xx drivers for the card, I made sure all previous drivers were uninstalled (for an ASUS Geforce2MX). I figure this must be XP's doing since the card works in ME.

My setup:

Celeron 800

256megs RAM

ASUS CUSL2-C motherboard

MX440 @ 4x AGP, not overclocked

SB Audigy

56k modem

Also i tried Detanator destroyer but it doesn't seem to work in XP.

Your not downloading with a 3rd party program right? like download acceleerator- etc?

If you download with them.. you get the error you speak of, just right clickt the DL link at www.nvidia.com- and save target as, then try it

I don't think thats the problem because I used the same drivers with my GF2MX before this card. Anyway I tried the card on another copy of XP and it works, so I guess its time to reinstall Windows :ermm:

my friend had this problem at our last lan, all it was was that he had mcafee running :o! HE SHOULD OF KNOWN THIS WAS THE PROBLEM tut! doubt this is your problem but owell worth a post;p
