Problems with mpgs and Windows Media Player 10

Ever since I upgraded to version 10 on both of my computers, mpgs no longer work properly in the player. It's not an MPEG2 problem, as DVDs play just fine. The player will just sit there like this:

However, the files play fine in mplayer2. Is anyone else having this problem?

Another small problem: In the file associations tab, I keep unchecking DVDs, as I want them to open in WinDVD. However, WMP will not remember my setting.

I'm not sure what that is....but when I turn off Hardware acceleration, the mpeg will play, but in the wrong aspect ratio...and I can't make it full screen....Why didn't I have this problem with WMP 9?

Make sure you have WMP set to use Overlays. Also, reinstalling WinDVD might be a good idea too.

where is the overlays option? I'm having this problem with DVDs, too.

I figured out the problem here. I uninstalled WinDVD 5, and everything worked fine. Can anyone else verify that WinDVD 5 and WMP 10 don't play nice?
