Question

What's the BEST Rapid Application Developement Programming Language/IDE in your opinion?

I saw a post where someone was asking what was the easiest language to learn programming with and saw a number of opinions.

I thought a poll would be a good way to expressing and seeing these opinions.

IDE (Intergrated Development Environment) a program that allows you to develop applications in a given language.

RAD (Rapid Application Developement) describes a programming language and an IDE in which you can very quickly and easily create an application.

BTW: My Fav RAD is Delphi

-HTML, XML is not a programming language or IDE

Feel free guys to point out anything I have stated incorrectly..... I'm humble and don't know everything

I've worked with javascript , java , vb.net, asp.net and I have to say of all the developement tools such as borlland's Jbuilder or visiual studio.net I use notepad more than anything just because its simple to work with snippets of code or almost anything. What can I say i'm a simplistic person.

I am an old C++Builder user from way back and it is still my preferred IDE. Delphi (VCL) is also easy for me (as C++Builder and Delphi share the same classes and controls, the VCL) but I don?t really care for Pascal that much.

My second choice is C#Builder (which I think is better than the Visual Studio C#./NET IDE).

Third choice is Visual C++ (MFC).

I hate working with java, mainly because its slow and looks awful.

Back in the day, Quick Basic 4.5 was about as good as it got. thumbs_up.gif
Thats what I thought until I got Visual Basic for DOS. That was hot stuff when I first used it.

I had that too. I felt it was simply too confusing. It felt so out of place at the time. I guess for me the move from simply single-user DOS interface programming using libraries was harder for me than it was for some. Programming for a Mouse needs more code. But also, some of the built in stuff, like the widgets for drive and folder selection were not as good as some of the 3rd party libraries, at least it seemed that way to me. QB 4.5 was clean and lean and fast and I guess I got used to it.

I gave up on VB for Windows after they started changing the syntax. Plus I always hated the runtime aspect of it. A true compiler is what they had in DOS and I guess it is what I expected in Windows. But hey, to each his/her own:):)

I prefer VS.NET, but you need the .NET framework, a big download if you just want to distribute a small program :(

---

I wish folks were not forced to use .net. It is not needed for many, many programs.

You can build non .net applications with Visual Studio .NET

This WHQL release does not contain much. In fact, there is only a single fix for a popular multiplayer hero shooter. The new driver fixes crashes when launching Overwatch 2 (DirectX 12) on High or Ultra graphics settings on Intel Arc A-Series graphics cards. From the changelog: Overwatch 2 (DX12) may experience an application crash while launching the game with High or Ultra graphics quality settings. Known bugs in the drive include the following: Intel Arc B-Series Graphics Products: Fortnite may experience an application crash when “Performance - Lower Graphical Fidelity” is selected as Rendering Mode. Recommendation is to use default Rendering Mode – DX12. Visual corruptions may appear in certain scenarios with multiple application interactions. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (DX12) may exhibit flickering corruption in certain scenes during gameplay. Returnal (DX12) may experience an application crash during gameplay with Ray-Tracing settings turned on. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 (DX12) may exhibit corruptions on water areas in certain scenarios. SPECapc for Maya 2024 may experience intermittent application freeze during benchmark. PugetBench for Davinci Resolve Studio V19 may experience an application crash while running the benchmark. HWiNFO may incorrectly report number of Xe Cores for certain Intel Arc B-Series Graphics Products. Intel Arc A-Series Graphics Products: Returnal (DX12) may experience an application crash during gameplay with Ray-Tracing settings turned on. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (DX12) may experience an application crash with Ray-Tracing and XeSS enabled. PugetBench for Davinci Resolve Studio V19 may experience an application crash while running the benchmark. Intel Core Ultra Series 1 with built-in Intel Arc GPUs: Adobe Premiere Pro may fail to import video. Mitigation is to use Intel NPU Driver version 32.0.100.3717 or lower. PugetBench for Davinci Resolve Studio V19 may experience errors intermittently with benchmark preset set to Extended. Intel Core Ultra Series 2 with built-in Intel Arc GPUs: Valorant (DX11) may fail to enumerate supported resolutions in game settings.
