Question

let me give u a quick over run of what to look for in a antivirus and the best antivirus . basically companys like norton rls antivirus updates very fast but they only release signature files, basically a signature is make for specific virus's and will only fix it for a particular virus. the best way to stop virus;s is with a algirthium ( cant spell ok ) basically waht it does it does it plug possible ways virus;s will run . Nowdays they all pretty much use algorthms aswell as signatures ( cause faster to make signatures offcourse ) but best company i would sujest for antivirus's is www.iis.com . they are run by a group called xforce who are a leadering security research company.

NOD is simply the best.

I used to use Norton, and it slowed my PC down big time. Ever since I got rid of Norton and started using NOD, I felt as if I bought a new CPU!

As far as virus detection goes, NOD is just as good if not better than Norton. You can see NOD's impressive record at virusbulletin.com.

I've tried just about all of the antivirus programs out there. I would prefer a combo antivirus/firewall program. I'm currently using NOD32, which I like (not a resource hog), so I think I'll stay with that. Now, if I could only decide on a firewall. I'm tired of switching av & firewall programs every other week.

hmm suppose that is true, their isnt really any point in having all the features that you get with Norton, Shredder etc. What features does NOD32 have?

It scans for Viruses :p

And it does it faster than any other AV proggie i used. Virusbulitin rates it as having the highest detect rate also.

Microsoft has chose NOD32 so it must be good. -waits for someone to flame microsoft-

In fact, Microsoft itself is a four year customer of Eset and the software giant has just signed on for an additional two years of service. Microsoft places so much confidence in Eset's Nod32 antivirus product that it uses the software in its release labs.

I stated earlier to take a look at http://www.virusbulletin.com. This page subjectively compares major antivirus software...and NOD32 comes on top as far as detecting viruses.

But you've only got 14 posts - who is going to listen to a n00b! :p

heh...

you don't have to believe what i'm saying, just believe what the link says.

If I linked Microsoft you don't believe it as a trustworthy source just because I only got 14 posts?

I mean I don't care if you say Yes to that question, I just think that is pretty dumb.

Hey, when you made this post, you had a total of 15! You are well on your way to credibility... :D

this kind of attitude towards newbies are common in all forums. just post a bunch of (Y) on any RWI or off topics forums.

about nod32, it is among the best among the commercial AV products. certainly beats norton in terms of scanning speed and http scanning.

its easy really , NOD32 is much powerfull in scanning and monitering than Norton and although its alot more lite on the system , so i think u cant compare them :)

I tried almost every well known antivirus , and finally i found thats NOD32 and KAV is the most powerfull antivirus out there , but KAV is like Norton , very heavy on the machine , and i dont like its GUI , NOD32 is more easy on the eye alot , and its options is very clear.
