[NFL] Decisions in Dallas...

Recommended Posts

IRVING, Texas -- With the preseason finished and a few days left until the roster must be cut to 53 players, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells revealed several decisions Friday:

# Safety Darren Woodson will miss at least the first five games because he's healing slowly from back surgery.

# Tony Romo will open the season as the backup quarterback, having beaten out Drew Henson.

# Torrin Tucker likely will start the opener at right tackle and Pete Hunter at right cornerback.

As for running back?

Well, Parcells recognizes there's a lot of interest in whether Eddie George, rookie Julius Jones or even Richie Anderson trots out for the first play of the season, but he doesn't plan on deciding until he gets to Minnesota for the opener. Parcells considers it a silly discussion because all three, and possibly others, will get their share of carries.

"Who starts in the game seems to be of prime importance ... but I don't know why. It doesn't make any difference," Parcells said. "How we do it could be from week to week a changeable thing."

he better start george. i drafted him in my fantasy league and then the last pick in my draft was auto-chosen and it just so happened to chose julius jones... lol, i dumped him and signed william green.

will i have to sign him back?

Romo starting. WOW. Should be fun.

Romo's not starting, he's the first backup (just like I called! ;)). Chances are unless Vinny gets hurt he won't play at all.

Also, Jones has been completely dominating in the preseason... George, on the other hand, has really stunk it up.

I'll give ya props. you did call it. Gimme my crow over easy. :)

Even if Julius doesn't start the first game, he's going to be the running back for the Cowboys this year. The dude is awesome, I loved his play at Notre Dame, his passion, his work ethic (every game in college he got better and better), and he has a great opportunity if Parcells is going to give all 3 a chance. Not alot of people get a second chance like he did; I think he'll be a great player.

I hope you're right. :)

why play him though when you have a veteran that has never missed a start?

i hope parcells starts george, so jones can learn. :/

While it'd be a nice thing to do, it wouldn't be thing that will get you the wins.

I think soloredd is right. George will probably start the first few games, but Jones will eventually take over. If not this year, then next year. He's done amazing in the preseason. George hasn't even averaged 1.0 yards per carry in any preseason game!

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
