mitch_anderson
Hey, this is my first post here, i've done a bit of a search and i was wondering if the ipod is plug and play. i.e. i plug it straight into a windows 2000 machine and it works. the reson being i am thinking of buying one to use to transfer stuff at school. the school computers are locked down so no software can be installed. so basicaly i want it to work like a usb key. just plug it straight in. thanks, Mitch Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/215182-is-the-ipod-plug-and-play/ Share on other sites

autodefe
I don't think it will all of a sudden work on a locked 2k workstation... it needs to install some drivers if I'm not mistaken. d0tn3t
Nah they work no problem, so long as removable drives arent disabled. At most public schools. unis etc, they are not disabled, and usb keys are encouraged. At my uni, its just that the only computers with firewire are macs, and dun wanna buy a new cable. mitch_anderson
nah, removable drives arnt diabled. i was looking at buying one so i can use it at school to take my files back and forth, and to listen to mp3's ect. so before i went out and bought one, i just wanted to check....other wise i was gunna buy a 128mb mp3 player and usb stick... but why pay 150 when an ipod is double plus a bit more and store more that 10x that. plus play mp3's :D Thankjs Mitch Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/215182-is-the-ipod-plug-and-play/#findComment-584524811 Share on other sites
evo0o
If removeable drives aren't disabled. Then the iPod should work fine, have fun! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/215182-is-the-ipod-plug-and-play/#findComment-584525808 Share on other sites
