How do I password protect a folder. Is there a facility in XP?

No but I use Hide Folders XP.

Well you can set up NTFS security on the folder, and then take out everyone except yourself (and maybe system).

unless you have XP home, then you can just say make this folder private. I think.

You can set permissions on NTFS like said above.

It's not free though. I don't know of any free alternatives.

encrypt it using windows xp built-in EFS

put it in my docs folder, and make my docs private

Which is only an option on XP Pro. XP Home doesn't have EFS.

i have had this issue before, iv been searching an searching for any ways that you can "password protect folders" in xp, but the only results i ever get is software :no: - microsoft has definately got to put this useful feature in the next version of windows e.g. lh :blink:

Just use NTFS. That's what it's there for.

The other users will get an Access denied when they try to do anything on that folder.

How about the wonders of Winzip/winrar? and name it something like...... "science project" instead of "My Silvia Saint pictures".
